FromTucson to Aurora-Help Each other-May healing come when you are ready for it.

From an Tucson to Aurora (0+ / 0-)
I'm not sure where to post this. I don't want to write a diary about it, or even respond to comments. This is a message for the folks of Aurora.

Last year I was in Tucson when 6 people were killed and several others, including Gabrielle Giffords were shot. Those deaths are remembered here, though not spoken of often.

For those of you in Aurora, though you want explanations for what has just occurred, it is likely you will never really get them. Just as Jared Loughner was insane, it is likely that the shooter in this case is as well. In the coming days theories will be spouted from all corners...some of them might even be right. But none of those theories will 'explain' it, because this sort of thing cannot be explained. It is madness.

For those who have lost someone, I offer my deepest sympathies. I do not know that sort of loss. For those in Aurora who have not lost someone directly, but rather only secondhand through coworkers and friends...please consider spending time with your friends and family. Turn off the news as much as you can. Turn off the computer. Don't listen to the pundits and politicians. There is no understanding to be found there, or anywhere else.

Help each other. Over the coming weeks extend a hand to all around you, and be understanding when someone is quiet or withdrawn, angry or even oddly happy. There are many reactions to this sort of tragedy...respect them all. Focus on the little things you can do to help others in your community rather than searching for answers that will likely never come.

May healing come when you are ready for it.
