And that table is butt ugly. Are people trying to hide from their guests with big get ups like that? Even then, you should still have taste. It looks like a rabid badger is going to jump out at any minute and eat everyone alive.

Perhaps if you're the psycho-killer in the movie THE CELL who bleached his dead victims before doing all manner of horrible things with their corpses.

Yeah, everyone has a giant clamshell just lying around, and all sorts of cobwebby debris and bleached, lifeless gourds to stick into it.

Thanksgiving on the freaking Titanic at the bottom of the ocean, maybe.

I'm not kidding, this is the type of thing they would have designed for the HANNIBAL TV series. Check out the food stylist's blog, it's thoroughly engrossing if you're interested in extreme food at all.

Was she trying to put a modern twist on some greater Thanksgiving theme? Okay with the little pumpkins (I believe they're actually gourds) and pine cones. I LOVE pine cones! Nearly obsessed. I must have worked on eleventy-bazillion craft projects with pine cones by now. But - driftwood and a jumbo clam shell? Is this for some upcoming Holiday-at-Mar-a-Lago thing? These are visual mixed metaphors that just don't mix well. Unless the theme is "A South Sea Island Thanksgiving!" in which they've stuffed the turkey with pineapple and other tropical fruit, and they're serving the big family meal on banana leaves or something.

I'd be more tempted to fill that clam shell with a whole lot of shiny plain round mini ornaments, in different colors. No texture. It is a nice shell (says one who enjoys collecting them). The driftwood makes it look trashy, though. But the big shell thing is a misinterpretation. Doesn't fit. If the big white shell is the main design element, then everything else needs to be holiday-colored. How 'bout gold, red, and green?

Ivanka's taste and style choices are often questionable. For example, the tight, sexy, asymmetrical dress she wore to Daddy's State of the Union speech was celebrity cocktail-party stuff. NOT for an event of this kind. This table theme really misses the mark.

driftwood is never among my memories. You're right about her questionable style choices. I still remember that gawd awful silver evening gown that made her look like a walking baked potato. Money can't buy class--or taste.

Her reason for choosing it, I would bet. So anyone who thinks she really is offering an inexpensive do-it-yourself centerpiece feels like a piece of shit when they find out they can't afford it. Fuck her.

It also says I'm so lazy I couldn't be bothered to take off the tangled line before I threw it on my table. And are those green tomtalillos stuck on sticks poking out? What a horrible mess of crap to put on your dinner table.

By the way, white pumpkins are a thing. I've grown them once or twice. They were all the rage a few years back. Not so popular anymore. Stick with the small orange or speckled pumpkins, if you want to make good pumpkin pie.
