First of all, people have the capacity for multiple concerns.
Secondly, there is a massive amount of horror taking place. The looming tax bill is obviously a major concern. Meanwhile, we're long overdue for a national conversation and legislation regarding sexual assault, institutional racism, gun violence, etc. We need to be talking about how boys are raised in our society, the power problem, police brutality, access to guns, mental health, climate change, and so much more.
Hopefully everyone has a passion and can dedicate time and effort to fulfilling said passion. But that doesn't prevent anyone from also being concerned about and taking action over a separate issue.
Lastly, what's posted on DU has little to no bearing on what events/actions take place. Guess what, the vast majority of people have never heard of DU and don't give a rat's ass what gets posted here. And those of us who are familiar with DU have lives away from DU. So, get off your high horse and stop telling people they are being distracted because there are a lot of posts on DU that aren't about your #1 concern.

(6,853 posts)As a wedge to divide liberals. We are supposed to stop posting about it to focus on more important things like web neutrality and the tax ripoff.
We haven't forgotten any of these major issues. I haven't forgotten that millions of children have no insurance right now. I am absolutely sick about these things.
I do not feel that we should back off on sexual blackmail issues. Journalists working for major news organizations have been held back by abusive perverts holding onto their power. What news stories were held back because the best journalists were not getting the jobs, other talented journalists were run off because of sexual harassment, major journalists were in a mutual blackmail stance with politicians ... it goes on and on. What politician has been protected by sexual predator editors in chief? Why were the Apprentice tapes not released? What Hollywood slug is holding onto the tapes because he might be the next RW target?
Young journalists are knocking down icons. They're tired of this shit. Who the fuck is Charlie Rose to them? Another millionaire kissing up to the powers that be. Who is Harvey Weinstein to Ronan Farrow? Another rapist like his father.
Abuse of power is always a liberal issue. We are crazy to ignore it.
There is a crack in the system. The criminals are terrified right now. Let's get whatever reform we can get while the getting is good.

Agreed. We can focus on more than one item at a time, and while I do believe that Trump does try to distract, the reality is that there are people focused on what he is trying to do with legislation.

(12,051 posts)we better be careful not to piss off potential voters . . . OH STOP. No one has heard of this place. No Democrat I know personally has ever heard of DU until I mentioned it.
And the rest of what you said? All true as well.

(1,202 posts)Reminding us/me to keep eyes focused is not a bad thing IMHO. Last thing I would want is that for lack of ever mentioning such a pervasive and well organized distraction, that those with a non-Democratic agenda get to operation with impunity because someone was tired of being reminded, so no one was being reminded.
