So I see us becoming guarded in the same way as Isreal, everytime you cross the street you're gonna have to go through a metal detector.
Thanks a shitload fuckers at the NRA for allowing us to have relatively zero gun laws, creating a culture of killing and turning this nation into a paranoid armed camp that chases after death rather than life.
So once again to the NRA: FUCK YOU!!!!!

(22,144 posts)NRA tends to harbor little racism that I have seen, less than society at large.

(2,307 posts)I know a lot who say guns should be allowed everywhere. Remember we hear how if someone had a weapon they could have stopped this from happening.
That rant over, I agree with what you are saying!

(1,074 posts)They might have stopped him or not---depends on the circumstances. Remember, it was dark in there and he was running in the aisle. People were panicking. It would be nice to think that someone with a gun could have stopped him, but my guess is that it would be been a daunting task.
Yet that is always an argument which is brought up. In todays case you had the dark theatre, mass chaos, not to mention a shooter well armored. I would say hitting a victim would have been a good chance also.

(80,693 posts)Darkened theater with flickering light and TEAR GAS. Which isn't just gonna cloud up the air you're breathing so you can't see through it. It stings your eyes and you can't fucking SEE! Aside from the fact that the theater was packed with panicking, terrified, and in some cases injured and dying/dead people. I defy ANY would-be Wyatt Earp out there to nail a perpetrator armed with an assault rifle and other weapons under conditions like that. They're DREAMING. Navy Seals could do it. Marine Corp sharpshooters. But I'm sorry. The average gun nut would be no match for a perpetrator like that in a nightmare situation like that. No matter what kind of sure shot he/she thought he/she was.

(16,993 posts)The vast majority (by far) of the money the NRA spends on politics goes to the GOP.

(10,708 posts)without those two, and quite a bit of settled law, the NRA wouldn't have a leg to stand on.
But we do have to be realistic about the laws we live under. Changing the constitution is what would be needed, and that's not going to happen. I wouldn't give the NRA much credit at all, and their biggest problem is that they have little reason to even exist anymore.

(1,734 posts)The useful idiots of the corporate gun manufacturers. The NRA preys on feelings of male inadequacy and safety paranoia to influence its members to behave like the gun nuts on this board. They don't realize that they are just tools of corporate America?
