My point being that when Republicans talk about families sitting around the kitchen table and working out a budget, they realize there are some things they can't afford. Like food, water or cell phones. This is always in reference to programs that help people, of course, like SS, Medicare, health care and frivolous things like that.

Tax cuts has said as much. Republicans expect to lose majority in the House or Senate or both next year and the tax cuts give new repubs something to run on in 2020. These tax cuts will trigger PayGo and newly empowered Dems will wind up making the cuts to social security and medicare to help make up for the loss of revenue created by these republican tax cuts.

The low-info general public will only know that Dems are cutting the budget of services they are used to getting - they won't think/remember to tie reduction in services to the republican tax cuts! They'll only know to blame Dems for reducing their benefits. And that's what the republicans will be running on in 2020 - fixing the mess the Dems have made of the economy and government doesn't work...
