Green Party candidate Jill Stein, on Russia interference:
Stein, characteristically, regrets nothing. To me, it was being able to show that these issues of corruption are very real, and I think the recount has been extremely validated since then by the findings you know of rampant tampering in a variety of election systems, she said.
She directed me to a Bloomberg report about how Russian hackers targeted voting machines in 39 states as further evidence that her recount efforts were justifiedwhich is odd considering Stein is not convinced that Russia interfered with the election to begin with. When I asked her about the various reports that indicate there was Russian interference in the 2016 election, she told me she hadnt read anything to indicate it was Russians, but believes that voting machines were vulnerable to hacking.

(841 posts)Stein knows she will never win any of her quixotic campaigns but they feed her ego. Stein has an audience of people who lap up her cranky nonsense and in turn she feels good being their guru.

(30,151 posts)Just the first two paragraphs---
"Stein was looking for her cat. Inside her suburban treehouse of a home, slightly north of Boston, the two-time Green Party presidential candidate had been wandering around for about ten minutes, peeking in closets, disappearing into her bedroom. Lily! she called, but the feline refused to emerge. Shes just shy, she reassured me.
Stein is no stranger to losing things. When we met again a couple months later, we spent 15 minutes looking for her car, a blue Prius with a green "JILL STEIN" bumper sticker, after she forgot where she parked. Shes also lost the 2002 Massachusetts gubernatorial race, a 2004 Massachusetts House of Representatives race, the 2006 Massachusetts Secretary of the Commonwealth race, the 2010 Massachusetts gubernatorial race, the 2012 presidential race, and the 2016 presidential race."
Oh, and Jill, just in the most random of chances that you might happen to read this thread- FUCK YOU

(23,946 posts)for decades. And she is no Ben Carson who has let religion destroy his brain.
Corporate media distorted her very progressive Environment First (should have used that like I said Jill!) message by attacking her persona and too many Democratic party folk bought into it.

(27,802 posts)Instead, she ran against Hillary Clinton. She must have been aware that Trump was a thousand times worse for the environment, but she chose to attack Hillary and shave off votes from the left. Therefore, I reject that as her message.

from the article-
"Her bathroom, impressively enough, was dirtier than my own, towels unfolded and the toilet unflushed, maybe because shes one of those if its yellow let it mellow, if its brown flush it down type of environmentalists."

(23,946 posts)"Despite receiving a mere 1,457,050 votes nationwide last year, she became the perfect patsy (alongside many other targets) for devastated Hillary Clinton supporters to project their post-election grief onto. In Clintons election memoir, What Happened, she writes, Stein wouldnt be worth mentioning, except for the fact that she won thirty-one thousand votes in Wisconsin, where Trumps margin was smaller than twenty-three thousand. In Michigan, she won fifty-one thousand votes, while Trumps margin was just over ten thousand."
Although I think it was lack of political instinct by Clinton not to put those states only under lock but not yet deep in the vault.
