(9,214 posts)Why does anyone think we must make a profit on the Olympics?
I certainly don't want to seem like I am defending Romney, but $1.3 billion over four years is not much for this country to host the Olympic games.
I think of the games as kind of a party for the world. If I host a party at home, the last thing I think of is how much profit I can make. I may try to save on expenses but I certainly don't try to make money.

But as you know, it's the hypocrisy -- taking lots of government money and then carrying on about how everything should be all free-market-y and privatized.

(3,577 posts)The DNC has put out a very nice ad. I just wanted to point out who provided this ad in case anyone missed the fine print at the end, especially since at that point no one had mentioned it yet. The DNC is a valuable organization, and I am proud to be a Democrat. I still love Howard Dean after all these years. If I had known this would cause NNN0LHI so much concern I would not have bothered to post.

(21,925 posts)Great ad. And did you notice Romney walking alongside Bush? Romney bears the taint of the Chimp all over him, for it was his Chimp who lavished all that taxpayer money on Mitt, the deficit Chimp.
Did anyone think that McCain's voice in the early part of the clip sounded a little more high-pitched than usual, like a chipmunk? Like he was inhaling helium.
