I know he's not really a partisan, and I know where he is he lands well to the right of most everybody here, but, man, I sure am feeling a lot of appreciation for the special prosecutor today. All politics aside. I'm encouraged that our system, the great American experiment, has the institutions in place that will bring down a demagogue like the shitstain in the White House (my apologies to all real stains of shit).

Can our system of government deal with the strain, the stress of this weird shit? It's a bit like an engineering or physics question!

(24,128 posts)My liberal, indy brother (much like me) kept mentioning how Mueller was always in the background. Sweet and accurate thought.
"He's always in the background."

(81,179 posts)But the angle wasn't right or he was smiling or it was fuzzy. I wanted an easier side-by-side comparison. I think there's quite a remarkable similarity. And now that he's older (certainly older than this photo I used), he's looking a little craggier with more gray in his hair and with a little more jowl to the jaw line.

He is to the right of us politically, but he puts country ahead of party... unlike this rotten crop of Republicans.
