not because tourism will take that much of a hit (frankly, most of the tourists to the gulf coast in alabama probably live in very red states

BUT it will impact companies that are wondering if they want to relocate to Alabama. With a boycott on, they'll think twice.

.... in reality I spend as little time as possible in shithole red states, and Alabama and Misssissippi are the shittiest of the shitholes. Never venturing to either state, period. No reason to go on business, and I spend my vacation dollars in blue states.

I suppose one thing I can do when purchasing goods is to determine where they are manufactured or where the businesses reside, so as to ensure not one cent on my part ever reaches a soul in Alabama.

I also have NY plates.

Louisiana has always been on my bucket list. Always wanted to see New Orleans.

Mon Dec 4, 2017, 05:33 PM

The beaches, starting about at the AL/FL line are sugar sand. They look like sugar and the further east you go, the whiter the sand. In addition, the water has a greenish hue and gets greener with hints of blue as you go east. It isn’t called the Emerald Coast for nothing!

There are historic sites to visit, too. Forts that date to the Civil War era are all along the Coast. Fort Massachsetts is off of Mississippi, Fort Morgan and Gaines are off of Alabama. (Fort Conde is in Mobile.) Pensacola has Ft. Barrancas, Ft. Pickens and remnants of Ft. McRae. The Gulf Islands National Seashore spans along the sea shore across several states and has beautiful wild areas that are undeveloped and rather pristine.

There are more things to see in Ft. Walton Beach and Panama City Beach. Quaint towns like Apalachicola are a little further east. You could just get in your car and make your way across the Coast. There is something for everyone!

Please come enjoy these areas! You never know when tRump will decide to sell them off or open them up for more condos, restaurants and souvenir shops. 🤔 There ARE plenty of those, too, but there are also lots of undeveloped areas to enjoy.

P.S. Don’t worry about your NY plates. Lots and lots of snowbirds and retirees are down here so you will blend right in.

Passed on the Toyota, and just bought a Subaru fresh off the boat from Japan instead.

The thought of purchasing and driving around in a new Sequoia assembled by some inbred sixth grade dropout Trump voter who has sex with his little sister turned me off to Toyota. So there's a few thousand bucks Bama kissed off.

Not really very productive -- if Moore's elected, he's going to be in office and no boycott is going to change that. However, assuming Jones gets 40-plus percent of the vote, there's a good chance such a boycott will hurt the people who supported Jones as much as it hurts those who voted for Moore, and likely make them less likely to support a Democrat in the future.

for a minute.

one of my favorite vacations ever was when my dad and grandparents took me to Huntsville. We stayed at Point Mallard and I got to jump off the Olympic diving platform. My dad let me bring my best friend and we had a blast. At least, until we went to the movies one day and saw Jaws. Scared the shit out of us. That was in 1975 and I haven't been back except to drive through between Texas and Florida.

Politics aside (as 12 year olds we didn't care anyway) it was just fun being with my friend and grandparents.
