Safety of Goat-Man feared as Hunting Season Approaches

'Goat man' spotted in mountains of northern Utah

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A man spotted dressed in a goat suit among a herd of wild goats in the mountains of northern Utah has wildlife officials worried he could be in danger as hunting season approaches.

Phil Douglass of the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources said Friday the person is doing nothing illegal, but he worries the so-called "goat man" is unaware of the dangers.

"My very first concern is the person doesn't understand the risks," Douglass said. "Who's to say what could happen."

Douglass said a man hiking Sunday along Ben Lomond peak in the mountains above Ogden, about 40 miles north of Salt Lake City, spotted the person dressed like a goat among a herd of real goats. The person provided some blurry photographs to Douglass, who said they did not appear to have been altered.

is wearing a goat costume and running on all fours. Does he think he's fooling the goats? If he does, he must be nuts. I think someone should talk to him and find out what's going on with him.

But it's more of a guess than the rather kind official interviewed for the story made. (Except for the guess of scoping them out for the future hunt. . . . But then what goat will be fooled?)

He could be a nature photographer working on a series of goat pictures. (Nature photography is stunning these days--from Emperor Penguins to Big Cats to . . .). That's a better guess. (He needn't be a good one, just an amateur trying something out.)

chose his species more wisely.

I do hope someone touches base with this guy and makes sure he's OK and what the story is. If nothing else, I'd like to know how any human manages to keep up with real mountain goats while dressed as a goat - that's got to take some athleticism...

She was wearing a wetsuit and flippers, swimming with sea lions. Not to schmart...

What do you think the white shark that killed her thought it was looking at? My guess is the biggest, slowest sea lion in the "raft" (the term for groups of sea lions).
