Jones mocks Moore for *prancing around on a stage in a cowboy suit*

http://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/363373-jones-mocks-roy-moore-for-prancing-around-on-a-stage-in-a-cowboy-suit

Democratic Alabama Senate candidate Doug Jones on Monday took a swipe at his GOP opponent, mocking Roy Moore for pulling out a gun while on stage at a September rally.

“I’m a supporter of the Second Amendment. When you see me with a gun, folks, I’ll be climbing in and out of a deer stand or a turkey blind, not prancing around on a stage in a cowboy suit,” Jones said during a speech.

'Pilot says, "we will be landing 15 minutes early."
Well, that worries me. Hell, we can land an hour early if he puts it down in the grand canyon.'

Or something like this.....

'My only fear of flying is coming to a sudden stop......like against a mountain.'

Close, anyway....

But then I also have a few hundred classical and jazz LPs.. maybe 30 operas...

Despite its high ratings, and replaced it with Glen Campbell. A 50-year-old example of right-wing jerks silencing criticism of "the establishment."

about that. They became heroes to me. So much of what I believe today came out of those times and thinking about it all. I was a kid, Jr. High, I think when that happened. Those were horrible years and it really made me think. Coming from a family that did not even watch the news much, it might be on but they paid no attention to it and never spoke about it, I am surprised how much I learned just from these kinds of episodes.

You're right, starting in 1968, the "fun" 1960's turned very dark: the Tet Offensive in Vietnam, MLK, Jr. and RFK murdered, the My Lai massacre (although not made known until 1969), the Democratic Convention debacle, and the election of Richard Nixon -- to name a few of the major events of a very turbulent year. The Smothers Brothers show got pulled in early 1969.

I was a freshman/sophomore at San Fernando Valley State College (now Cal State University, Northridge), which had some really crazy goings-on which only added to the surrealism of the times. Part of the Administration Building was burned down, there was a police riot on campus in January, 1969 that nearly swallowed me up (if I had fallen, I'd have been trampled badly).

There's a short six-minute video (produced in 1985, the quality is rather poor) that covers the Valley State campus unrest at the time, here:

want to be a Cowboy
I'm going to be a Cowboy
I'm born to be a Cowboy
I want to be a Cowboy
A Cowboy! Uh-huh

Tonight we're taking my fast car
Were gonna go down to the Cowboy bar
I'm gonna wait till the club is full
and I'm gonna ride the mechanical bull

Cowboy look is the one I sought
Can't change now cause the clothes are bought
To be a true Cowboy was my fate
I can't help it if I was born late

All the Cowgirls in their Stetson hats
and their tight fitting jeans so they don't look fat
We'll all be listening to the Cowboy tunes
and stomp around like a bunch of goons

Cowboy look is the one I sought
Can't change now cause the clothes are bought
To be a true cowboy was my fate
I can't help it if I was born late

We're all OD'd on the Olden West
seein' who's Cowboy clothes look the best
I can ride that phony bull so damn good
Sometimes I think I'm Clint Eastwood

I know I'm a Cowboy deep inside
My hat band's made out of synthetic rattle snake hide
After a couple shit kickin' Cowboy movies
I check out the Cowboy scene down at Zubie's

Aside from being a proud ephebophile, he's completely clueless about how ridiculous he looks, thinks and acts. BTW, for any RW evangelicals reading: If he was banned from a shopping mall for illegal, predatory, creepy behavior, he should be banned from the Senate.
