Are the best places in the world to live while the most religious and conservative places are the worst places to live in the world.
It even is proven on the state and regional level in America.
In the end science and knowledge will win, it will just take time.
Of course the countries in Europe have a big head start they got rid of many of their regressives over 250 years ago and sadly many got dumped here and we suffer still today.

(399 posts)With himself as the godhead, using all of the mind control tricks of religion to seize absolute power. I've heard this patently false portrayal as an example of how atheist societies are evil and it falls flat on its face. As for the other favorite mis-example, Hitler was not only a Catholic but had the endorsement of the Vatican.

(34,857 posts)The statement was that being atheist is not synonymous with being liberal. I AGREED by pointing to Stalin, who was far from liberal.
Unless you consider Stalin liberal. I don't.

(2,916 posts)because unlike the countries in europe we never had a landed nobility that we had to liquidate - except for the slaveowners, sort of but not really - before we could carry on The March Of Progress.

(382 posts)The OP is, I believe, talking about the level of atheism in the population, not government "enforced" atheism... as if any government can force anyone to change what they do or don't believe.
The USSR and Cuba are red herrings. Those populations are (were) certainly not predominantly atheist.
The OP also stated atheist AND liberal, not atheist OR liberal. And there was no inference that atheist = liberal.
