(16,162 posts)Itll be 51-49 if Jones is seated before the vote. Corker has already said hes a no. Assuming he sticks to that, a huge assumption, we would need 1 more. Im not hopeful that it will be delayed or that there would be enough GOP no votes to stop it.

Alabama is represented in the Senate by Luther Strange until such time as the state of Alabama certifies yesterday's election to the Secretary of the Senate -- a process that will take a couple of week.

(19,549 posts)Earliest expected date on that is Dec 22, but the SOS said there could be some delays with some counties.
Ive seen estimates for Dec 26, which would fall during the recess. So, it would be early 2018 before hes seated.

(50,451 posts)Theres a week after the election for absentee ballots to come in. Then comes paperwork...and remember, Christmas is 12 days away.
Heres Trumps problem. The House bill is different from the Senate one, and theyre talking fairly substantial changes like the reduction of the top bracket rate. This bill cant pass because theres too little time.

(39,405 posts)Like repealing Obamacare, they will pay a steep price for this piece of crap if they pass it.
Their owners seem to know their time is rapidly running out, and want them to stuff their pockets on the way out the door.
If they do pass it, repealing it should be the first order of business if Democrats regain control and no excuses.
