Rep. Charlie Dent (R-PA), who has already said he will not seek re-election next year, confirmed he has had conversations with TV news executives about becoming an analyst, raising the possibility that he would leave his seat early and create yet another special election for his party, the New York Times reports.
Said Dent: I have no definitive plans.

(15,278 posts)soon, Wolf might piggyback Dent's open seat with the special election for Tim Murphy's open seat in March. Or he might just leave the seat vacant until Novemember. PA Dems have had their eye on the 15th for a long time. Dent was a long time state rep and was known/thought of as a moderate during his time in the state house. That reputation is what kept him in Congress because he rarely broke with voting the GOP party line. The problem for Dems is there's been a lot of legal problems for Allentown area Dems so I'm not sure who might be up for a go at the 15th.
The best place for info is the Allentown Morning Call:www.mcall.com. Best state reporter is John Micek: http://connect.pennlive.com/staff/jlmicek/posts.html
