Now, being the Godless Foreign Devil Irish-Canadian from Kenya I am, my call is about another country:
Vladimir Putin will not be Russia's leader at year's end.
Whatcha got?

(1,033 posts)At least not right away. I could definitely see calls for a new amendment gaining ground, but Americans revere their Constitution, so I don't see that happening.
I could definitely see everything else you predict happening, though.

(45,274 posts)Consider what we were thinking a year ago. There had been no Arab Spring, no Wisconsin Uprising, no Occupy movement, the Tea Party types were riding high, just having won a blowout election.
Well, if you think the changes in the past year were something to marvel at, be assured that you ain't seen nothing yet. I predict that the political landscape by late October will be unlike anything you are likely to imagine from what you know right now.

(45,274 posts)this movement has been som time in forming. I know a lot of people, like Russ Feingold, for example, are working behind the scenes to grease the skids.

(5,214 posts)The POTUS's pay is what, $400,000/year. For this amount of money hundreds of millions will be spent prior to the election. What a country!
As for congress critters, they are mostly 1%ers. How could an average person fun a campaign, raise funds, get elected and live on what say a Rep makes? Granted, $150,000/year is pretty good money but for a non 1%er that has to pay for an apt in DC and keep up their residence in their home district. There are perks, office and staff allocations but that does not personally benefit the critter.
I say let them earn $500,000/year. Imagine the howls! But at this rate of pay maybe the perfect person to run this country could emerge because they would have enough to pay their expenses and not worry about selling themselves out as corporate whores.

(1,033 posts)Hopefully Americans side with sanity.
Democrats win back the House, narrowly. Republicans win the Senate, narrowly. Obama defeats Romney, narrowly.
Unemployment will hover around 8.5% all year.
Congress somehow finds new ways to embarrass itself.
China is far less feared in this country by years end.
Russia has an Arab Spring-style uprising.
OWS continues to go strong, but police forces remain strong against them.
Also, Andre 3000 will release one of the greatest hip-hop albums of all-time.
