When will the FBI, FCC, CIA or SOMEBODY go after FOX news?

They spread lies, hate and propaganda like the supposed "coup". Dumb Drumph listens and believes. And then we REALLY have a major problem. How is FOX news even allowed on cable networks, satellite networks, etc?

solicitation to commit a crime of violence, 18 U.S. Code § 373. But it requires more than just a general broadcast that something should happen. You'd have to be guilty of soliciting a specific person to commit a specific crime. I think it's fair to call some of Fox's remarks something like stochastic terrorism, and could be potentially dangerous, but right now what they are saying is not illegal and is protected by the First Amendment.

But remember, their audience is gradually diminishing - the average age of a Fox viewer is something more than 65 and not getting younger.

The remedy for bad speech is not suppression of it; it's more speech. They can be sued for defamation - but so far they have managed not to cross that line, although they've come close. As far as I can tell they haven't actually committed a crime, so there's no basis for prosecuting them. We have to be very careful when we talk about suppressing the speech of those we hate - that can very easily be turned around the other way (and don't think Trump wouldn't put MSNBC or the New York Times or the Washington Post out of business if he could get away with it). And then we'd be damn sorry we ever thought of putting a news network out of business.

But maybe someone with intelligence.

I know it sounds radical, but it also sounds dangerous by pushing people to violence based on lies. Hate speech is banned in a lot of free countries. In America, it's treated like the Second Amendment and neither one of them helps matters much.

I simply said the CIA is not granted authority to investigate or charge any domestic news organization. That's true. I have not read Dark Alliance, but recently watched Kill the Messenger, which is based on the book. I get that the CIA may act illegally, but the CIA cannot investigate Fox, nor would we want it to do so.

And on edit, I didn't claim the CIA has no "domestic authority"--that was a different person.

I believe "power" and "authority" could be interchangeable in this instance. The Special Forces have used the psychological " "hearts and minds" mantra campaign for years. And it's no secret they are an offshoot of the CIA.

Is largely protected by the 1st Amendment. I despise Fox, but would never want the US government to attempt to stifle a news organization simply because we disagree with that organization, even if they are lying. The right--and Donald Trump--believes that CNN is spreading lies, and we would not want the current administration to try and shut down CNN.

Maybe it's not today, but we also had two semesters of govt in high school that covered history, important events and people. We had a mock court, learned the voting process and even how to run for office. We discussed current events and how laws changed the country. I learned a lot and I'm still grateful my school had that course.
