Research: Wreck of last US slave ship mostly intact on coast

Researchers have made another discovery about the wreckage of the Clotilda along the coast of Alabama.

Most of the wooden ship remains intact, according to a recently released report. More than 100 African captives were transported across the Atlantic Ocean in 1860 in a pen that remains standing onboard.

The remains of the ship have been studied since they were discovered a few years ago near Mobile. Jim Delgado is one of the researchers and says that the fact that the ship remains mostly in one piece enhances its historical value.

3. Interesting in that it was illegal to import slaves to US in 1860.

4. They need to hire the guys who

dug up the steamboat Arabia from the Missouri River and built a museum for it in Kansas City. They did an incredible job, and honestly that museum is probably the very best one I've ever seen.
