2. Venezuelan Opposition Leaders Released 'Transition' Statement

Three key figures of the Venezuelan opposition – Leopoldo Lopez, Maria Corina Machado, and Antonio Ledezma – all of whom have to varying degrees been connected to the radical sector of Venezuela's opposition, happened to sign and distribute the following communique on February 11, a mere day before the coup plot that President Nicolas Maduro denounced was to take place.

Leopoldo Lopez, Maria Corina Machado, and Antonio Ledezma
To what extent did these three individuals know of the coup plot? We do not know yet, but the fact that they came out with a statement a mere day beforehand, for a “National Accord for the Transition” of the Maduro “regime,” suggests that they must have known about the plot. National Assembly President Diosdado Cabello did name Antonio Ledezma as one of the individuals who was supposed to sign a statement in support of the coup.

Would the U.S. or Canada tolerate a plotted coup against the gov't? No. Why should Venezuela?

4. They would probably already be enjoying the hospitality at Guantanamo as we post!

These clowns have always depended upon US financial support and completely US corporate media whitewash of their actions, not to mention the little brigades of right-wing message board trolls trying to obliterate US public resistance to their plans to overthrow the elected government of Venezuela.

There's a reason US citizens have long heard the expression, "Yankee, go home" from Latin Americans. Anyone who doesn't get it needs to spend some vital time investigating how this expression has existed for so many, MANY decades.

Hands off Venezuela. The real people of Venezuela is going to win, in the end, and the oligarchs will have to either pound sand, make the democratic adjustment, or all move to Miami.

6. You're right, or they'd be dead already.

Hands off Venezuela and shove your foreign funding up your ass. The oligarchs can go * themselves. I hope everyone involved in plotting this coup is rounded up and imprisoned.

10. They've been counting on US governmental protection while they work daily to overthrow the gov't.

In addition to the funding they get from channeled money handed out to them from Congress through various channels, they get invited to Washington, D.C., to enjoy photo ops and refreshments while they practically get bounced on Presidential knees.

11. Yeah, they don't look happy at all.

Maybe they're terrified of a unified people who actually don't want to live under the IMF and go back to the poverty and suffering they lived with so long. That picture with Bush makes me want to hurl.

3. Confirmed: the SEBIN basically raided his office without a warrant and took him by force

Of course, if this were not a leftist, anti-American regime, the chavista fanboys here would be very vocal about this incident, but since it's Chavez's dimwit of a successor who's responsible, they won't say a word.

This arbitrary arrest is not unlike what happened under Pinochet. But of course, the ideologically blind leftists in here aren't gonna say shit.

Venezuelan government stops U.S.-backed coup attempt
By Berta Joubert-Ceci

February 16, 2015

Ever since Comandante Hugo Chavez became president of Venezuela in 1998 and the Bolivarian Revolution began, there has been no time that the opposition — supported and, to a large extent, led by the United States — has stopped trying to overturn the revolutionary process. It is a story repeated many times in Latin America — so much so that there’s a joke that “the U.S. is the only country where there are no coups because there is no Yankee embassy there.”

The latest attempted coup aimed at Venezuela was revealed this past Feb.12, when Youth Day is commemorated, just a year after the start of violent street demonstrations known as guarimbas. The right-wing opposition used these street actions in an attempt to overthrow the government of President Nicolas Maduro. They killed 43 people and injured hundreds. This Feb. 12 Maduro told the people his government had dismantled another attack. He released details about recently discovered plans and the role of the U.S. government.

~ snip ~

Involved in the coup attempt are such right-wing assembly members as Julio Borges, a deputy to the National Assembly from the right-wing party Primero Justicia; 17 active military officers who had already obtained visas from the U.S. State Department; plus retired officers such as Major General Maximiliano Hernández, who is now incarcerated; businessman Parsifal D’Sola; Maria Corina Machado, a known oppositionist who receives funding from the U.S. Agency for International Development; Leopoldo Lopez, in prison now for promoting violent guarimbas in 2014; and others.

The latter two people, together with the metropolitan mayor of Caracas, Antonio Ledezma, signed on Feb. 11 the “Call for Venezuelans to a National Agreement for the Transition,” a program aimed at reversing the gains of the Bolivarian Revolution and restoring neoliberalism to Venezuela, including the “insertion” of the country in international organizations like the International Monetary Fund.

They'll never give up trying, the dirty freaks.

12. Yes, indeed! They are so proud of themselves, as big fish in their little fish bowl.

They don't grasp that US citizens have seen so many people in other countries sell themselves to US military/industrial/political interests, imagining they will all become super big deal potentates! They are downright common to us by now. They just don't know it, yet, apparently.
