Minnesota legislator invites two Wisconsin businesses to relocate over union debate

Source: Twin Cities

By David Montgomery

Wisconsin Republicans are trying to pass a controversial "right to work" law that would ban "union shop" contracts requiring union membership. But on Tuesday they got some pushback from a top member of their own party from Minnesota.

Rep. Pat Garofalo, R-Farmington, said Wisconsin's right-to-work bill is "heavy-handed and wrong" and would hurt business owners who want to work with unions. And he wants to bring those businesses to Minnesota.

"Wisconsin's right-to-work legislation would negatively impact the private contracts between these companies and the unions they have voluntarily decided to partner with," Garofalo said in a Tuesday statement. "It's heavy-handed and the wrong for Wisconsin to inject government into these private contractual relationships that has worked well for private companies for decades."

Garofalo chairs the Republican-controlled House's Job Growth and Energy Affordability Committee.

It's getting good coverage. They have him on video saying that. It was on the evening news. Major burn on "big government" Walker.

Where was he (Garofalo) when Pawlenty was in office, siding with everything he, Pawlenty, was doing to take down the citizens of Minnesota because of the tax breaks which were given to the ELITE.
His voting record speaks for itself, it appears he is not for the worker

That gives me hope that we can eventually do the same with Scotty. I honestly believe that the first thing I would do if I were elected as the new chair of the Wisconsin Democratic Party (and we are looking for a new one) is to spend a week with the top DFL brass. You all have one of the best state-level parties in the country and ours... well, we haven't been winning a lot lately. Football programs do this all the time. Why not a state party? We can start running the "Minnesota offense" whatever that might be.
