Russia blames Sweden for Ukraine crisis

Source: The Local (Sweden)

Russia’s embassy in Sweden has pointed the finger of blame at its host country for causing Ukraine's woes, in a furious response to comments made about the crisis by Foreign Minister Margot Wallström. Writing on Facebook, the embassy lambasted the “honoured minister” for the “one-sided” view of the Ukraine conflict she put forward in an opinion piece published on Friday in the Svenska Dagbladet newspaper.

In the article, Wallström said Russia’s annexation of Crimea and its military support for separatists in eastern Ukraine posed the greatest threat to peace in Europe since the end of the Cold War.

In its response, the Russian embassy suggested Sweden and others had provoked Russia into seizing part of its neighbour’s territory by offering Ukraine a pathway to membership of the European Union. “The main tool turned out to be a state coup, a violent power takeover, which pushed Ukraine into the abyss of civil war,” the embassy wrote.

Carl Bergqvist, a Swedish air force major who tweets under the name Wiseman, likened the Russian embassy's rhetoric to blaming a rape victim for her choice of clothing.

Looks like it's near Grevenmacher, so I likely have been there. A cousin-in-law came from Grevenmacher; it's a beautiful part of the country. Lots of vineyards!

Only my grandfather, his brother and a cousin left. All my greataunts stayed so we've always been in contact with them. A few years ago, however, one of my Luxembourgisch cousins went to Mertzig and researched both civic and church records. She found a treasure trove of written documents dating back to 1580. When you go, it might be something to look into , though the documents are in either Latin or Luxembourgisch.

I'd have to go through a trouble of translated The Russian Embassy in Sweden released a response to that opinion which I'd have to translate to read for myself the few points mentioned are some good points worth pointing out but from the opinion piece Russia is singled out & blamed for peace being threatened but the "west" pays a remarkable amount of attention & blames Russia in the meantime.

Ah, I'm committing mass typos again.

You see, a sovereign nation acting on sovreignty is a threat to Russia. Isn't that obvious?

RE: Admit nothing, deny everything, make gross counter-accusations.

if we're honest both sides are doing exactly this.

Remember Yats' crazy pants interview in Germany where he accused the U.S.S.R. of starting WWII?
