Iran Calls GOP Letter 'Propaganda Ploy,' Offers To 'Enlighten' Authors
Source: NPR
Zarif said he was astonished by the letter, saying it suggests the U.S. lawmakers "not only do not understand international law" a subject in which he is a professor "but are not fully cognizant of the nuances of their own Constitution when it comes to presidential powers in the conduct of foreign policy,"

(25,699 posts)"Mullah" is a defunct term, first off. It used to refer to any shia scholar, but fell out of favor around the turn of the 20th century. it is now used as a term of mild disparagement for someone who is, well... "square," like an old beard back in the day.
It was picked up in American English after the 1979 revolution, and has been used pretty much exclusively as a slur against any and all Muslim clerics, whether Shia or not.
It's sort of like how English-speaking pundits like to use spanish titles like 'commandante" or 'el presidente' to refer to corrupt officials and leaders in the Anglophonic world.

(1,539 posts)More than anything the letter shows the GOP can't even negotiate with their own President, that the American people elected TWICE!
Really they have been saying FU to American voters for the past 6 years and their co-conspirators conservative SCOTUS/Koch Brother judges and in Ohio stole the election in 2000 and 20004. This is the party, that evaded and destroyed another nation on cherry-picked intelligence and brought us ISIS.
The negotiation involve France, Germany, China, Iran, and the US. Little doubt many others are involved also, such as Turkey, Iraq, Suadi Arabia, and the Soviet Union.
No surprise really, that the GOP wants to stick a sharp stick in our President and close Allies eyes. This is the party of tortures and war criminals. Many of them should be standing trial at the Hague.

I'd love to see the Iranian officials send them a scathing letter schooling the 47 about the Constitution in full page ads in all major "news outlets". (used quote to signify the tentative nature of our propaganda machine)

Unbelievable behavior of people who swore to uphold and protect the laws of the United States.

"Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort. No person shall be convicted of treason unless on the testimony of two witnesses to the same overt act, or on confession in open court.
The Congress shall have power to declare the punishment of treason, but no attainder of treason shall work corruption of blood, or forfeiture except during the life of the person attainted."
but it certainly reaches new heights in stupidity and disrespect.
