Tom Cotton Seems Confused About The Basic Geography Of Iran

Source: THINKPROGRESS

But when asked by Face the Nation’s Bob Schieffer what better outcome Cotton expects if a White House-led deal falls through, Cotton seemed to make a key geographic mistake, suggesting that Tehran, the capital of Iran, might be controlled by anyone other than Iranian leaders:

Schieffer: What do you want to happen here? What is your alternative here? Let’s say that the deal falls through, then what?

Cotton: Well as Prime Minister Netanyahu said, the alternative to a bad deal is a better deal. The Iranians frequently bluff to walk away from the table. if they bluff this week, call their bluff. The Congress stands ready to impose much more severe sanctions. Moreover we have to stand up to Iran’s attempts to drive for regional dominance. They already control Tehran increasingly they control Damascus and Beirut and Baghdad and now Sana’a as well. They do all that without a nuclear weapon. imagine what they would do with a nuclear weapon.

A 2 month Jr. Senator should learn to keep his mouth shut and listen instead of pretending he has anything of value to say. He was a shit officer in the military, he's an ever bigger shit as a Senator. What were you people in Arkansas thinking sending this uninformed infant to the Senate?

do they control Sana? Not because we lost control of Yemen means the Iranians wrestled it from us. The people living there had enough of the puppet president we had there and kicked him out. That doesn't automatically mean Iran was behind it

Also they are having more influence in Iraq and Syria because they are part of the solution and not part of the problem. Their effort have liberated more cities from ISIS than the thousands of our airstrikes couldn't do for little Kobani,

Words imply things beyond their literal meanings and there is an intention behind every utterance. It's unclear exactly why Mr. Cotton felt the need to inform everyone of the obvious fact that the (now relatively long-standing) Iranian government "already" controls the capital of Iran. He could in fact be utterly clueless, or maybe he was just name-dropping cities in an attempt to sound more intelligent and to make the Iranian "threat" seem more dire. In any case, I think it is worthy of derision.

Gall-dangit, with the likes of Tom 'n Joni Ernst now in office, ol' Laffingstok Louie Gohmert or Crumb-worthy Graham might not shine as brightly as they have. It's heartening to have "solidarity" in DC - especially between the ears of conservative lawmakers (or is it lawbreakers?).

Sun Mar 15, 2015, 10:42 PM
Mar 2015

We have a journalist asking a republican what's your alternative to a letter and the republican gives a geography lesson on not even knowing that Tehran is in Iran and he's a senator and he has a college degree---really.

What the public should have gotten in my opinion was:

Do you know or have you read the LOGAN ACT and give us a example or explain to the public as to why it doesn't apply to you and your fellow republicans? Here let me read the 1799 Act, and I will let you respond.

Or a better yet have the next question like:

Do you Mr. Cotton or any of your other republican "friends " in the senate including the majority leader in the Senate Mitch McConnell know something or anything about the, you know Constitution, do you and your fellow senator's that signed on to your letter completely disregard Article II Section 2, let me read it to you and what do you have to say to this?
Nope, nothing of the sort

it sure is churning out idiots. Got money, go to Harvard come out a Harvard bot. Their classes of higher learning put out Republican'ts. My point is, if Dubya made it through Harvard, their standards are at a fifth grade level. The fact that a lot of Congressman and Senators come out of that school, speaks volumes for the concentration of outright stupidity in DC...
