Up to 5,000 workers have gone on strike in China at the worlds largest sports shoe maker, which supplies global brands including Nike and Adidas..
The industrial action by between 4,000 and 5,000 staff at the Yue Yuen Industrial Holdings factory in Dongguan, in Guangdong province, started because of cost-cutting production changes.
Jerry Shum, the firms Hong Kong-based investor relations director, confirmed today that a strike had started at the factory making sports shoes, but he did not identify which global brands it produced.
He said the company was in control of the situation and expected the dispute to be resolved within a few days.
