BOSTON (AP) -- A DNA expert has testified that the blood of a Massachusetts Institute of Technology police officer was on white gloves found in Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev's (joh-HAHR' tsahr-NEYE'-ehvz) car.
The testimony came Wednesday as prosecutors tried to show Tsarnaev played an active role in the killing of Officer Sean Collier days after the 2013 bombings.
The 21-year-old Tsarnaev could face the death penalty if convicted. His lawyer admitted during opening statements that Tsarnaev participated in the bombings but said his older brother, Tamerlan, was the mastermind.
His lawyer also said it was Tamerlan, not Dzhokhar, who shot Collier.

(12,778 posts)everybody is entitled to a fair trial. If it can be denied to the worst criminal, it can be denied to the most virtuous man.

(34,136 posts)That's what it seems the defense attorney wants the jury to believe. It's not at all convincing given the video that shows his standing behind the children that were killed/maimed by the bomb Dzhokhar left in the crowd. And that Dzhokhar was the one who killed his brother by running over him.
Let's give this guy a fair trial, if he's found guilty by the jury, lock him up forever and forget his name after that. The death penalty will just make sure his name is kept out in public and that he could be a cause for some groups. Locked up and ignored, the world can forget him.

(40,168 posts)this POS pleads guilty in exchange for not getting executed. His own lawyers admit he carried out the crimes.
The only reason this entire circus continues is to keep him jailed for life vs. getting the death penalty.

(34,136 posts)But I don't think his attorney let the prosecution know that they were going to admit to the charges - that seemed to be a complete surprise to everyone.
If I were the prosecutors, as soon as that statement, "He did it" was made, I would have stood up and asked for an immediate verdict, life in prison with no chance of parole. Case over, everyone can try to get over it and the two pieces of garbage who killed innocent people can be forgotten.
