NAACP wants US Justice department to investigate suspicious hanging death

CLAIBORNE COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) - The Claiborne County Sheriff, Marvin Lucas, has confirmed that a body was found on property located off of Rodney Rd in Claiborne county.

The Coroner, J.W. Mallett, confirms the body was found hanging from a tree.

Now, Claiborne County branch of the NAACP is indicating the man found hanging is Otis Byrd.


The NAACP has now sent an email requesting the US Department of Justice "join the current investigation of the suspicious hanging death of Mr. Otis Byrd."

31. Yup. Being black goes back a ways.

I say that because wrongful convictions, different punishments for the same crime, and even lynching seem to follow people of color, especially black folk - at the hands of white ones. The black folk do their best to, well, live with it.

This is a method of murder most often reserved for black folk at the hands of white ones, which makes any other excuse pale in comparison. And that isn't a pun.
