Cops: Firefighter beat up homeless man over slow food order
Published 6:26 am, Tuesday, October 13, 2015

BROOKLINE, Mass. (AP) — A Brookline firefighter has been arrested after police say he beat up a homeless man for taking too long to order his food at a restaurant.

Police say 37-year-old Joseph Ward, of Boston, punched the man in the face five to seven times, kicked him and threw food and a bottle at him outside of Anna's Taqueria in Brookline on Sunday night.

The victim was taken to the hospital with a laceration to his eyebrow.

WFXT-TV reports Ward did not answer the door Monday night. He is charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

the little money that he had on him.

That firefighter is facing federal crimes, now. He could go to jail, lose his job, lose his self-esteem, become a homeless person and get beat up for taking too long to do the math about what menu items he could afford with the little money that he had on him.

Woundn't that be somethin' ?

want to jump to the defense of bullies and give them an excuse, as if withdrawing the drug would be the equivalent of giving them a "nice" pill to fix your problem.

You want to bet?

I worked next to them in a big city for few years. It's not the steroids. They were bullies when they started, and the public trust just gave them an outlet.

I wonder how many people he has beaten behind closed doors on calls?

On the other hand, in addition to most likely being wrong, you disrespect millions of people, some of them children, who take doctor prescribed steroids for a number of conditions. You inject fear and hostility where people are just trying to seek medical treatment. That is behavior I try to avoid, though others do seem to be comfortable with it.

"Very passionate people", as Donald Trump would say. It seem that one doesn't have to punch and throw bottles to be a bully.

A bully usually does not beat up people like that. A bully would have just pushed him out of the way. This sounds more like a person who's back is against the wall, and is striking out. There seems to be more and more people who are having fight or flight moments, in this country. If this pressure continues, expect more and more violence.
