How Bernie Sanders is Making the Democrats Play Nice

Source: Christian Science Monitor

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders has promised his supporters that he will focus on the real issues during his campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination. And so far, he has followed through on this promise.

Like his competitors, Mr. Sanders has appeared on a variety of comedic talk shows, such as "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert," "Late Night with Seth Meyers," and most recently, "Ellen," hosted by actor/comedian Ellen DeGeneres.

Senator Sanders’s appearance on Ms. DeGeneres’s show highlights the his ability to simultaneously talk the issues and show a lighter side of his personality – all while avoiding negative comments on his competition.

EDIT: This first Democratic debate has been acclaimed for addressing the issues and showing the adults are in charge in stark contrast to the Repug circus - this is in large part because of Bernie Sanders. Of course, this is something else about Bernie the MSM won't acknowledge because it doesn't fit their preconceived narrative.

Sen. Sanders has positively changed the election process, has shown the American people that hateful smear tactics aren't the only way to run an election. The people are hungry for the truth and pure problem solving that Sen. Sanders has provided.

Bernie is the true leader of the Democratic Party right now with regard to the primary process.

He is setting the tone -- cooperative, with a healthy but not exaggerated does of competitiveness.

Focusing on the issues -- on the problems and finding solutions to them.

And isn't that precisely the combination that we need to lead this country?

Isn't Bernie the most likely candidate to REDUCE THE GRIDLOCK IN OUR GOVERNMENT.

Look at how charming he was on stage at the debate, how he reduced the tension, how he avoided creating angry responses, how he treated everyone with respect and did not point fingers.

That's what we need in the White House to make our democracy work well.

Will Bernie be able to fulfill every campaign promise? Maybe not.

Will Bernie get the political revolution he is asking for? Maybe, maybe not.

But will Bernie be able to inspire Congress -- Republicans and Democrats to finally work together just a little. Well, based on what we saw at the debate, I think compared to all the other candidates in both parties, yes.

I think that Bernie is the candidate most likely to bring the country together. I think he is the most likely to be the strongest leader.

Webb is suited for Secretary of Defense. I could see Webb and Bernie balancing each other out with regard to military policy. They make a good team.

But Bernie has shown himself to be the leader our nation needs.

I think that sooner rather than later a lot of the media will realize that is who he is.

The more conservative may be uncomfortable with some of his ideas, but they will come to realize that he is the guy who makes people work together in harmony just by his presence.

On Ellen Degeneres' show, Bernie said that when he was young he wanted to be a social worker. He is. He is just the social worker we need at the top of our dysfunctional government.

Feel the Bern!

1. Bernie cannot take sole credit for Democrats playing nice.

2. This is not "Late Breaking News." It isn't even news. It is a partisan opinion piece.
