Gov. Wolf on board with state Senate to remove Kathleen Kane from office

HARRISBURG — Gov. Tom Wolf appears on board with a Senate plan to form a committee to determine whether embattled Attorney General Kathleen Kane should be removed from elective office under a rare constitutional mechanism.
A spokesman for the Democratic governor said Friday that Kane, a fellow Democrat suspended from practicing law due to perjury charges, is no longer fit to serve.
"As Governor Wolf has said for months, he believes Attorney General Kane can no longer serve as attorney general and has called for her to resign," Wolf spokesman Jeff Sheridan said. "With her law license now suspended, the governor's administration has been engaged with Senate leadership to discuss ensuring that the citizens of Pennsylvania have an effective and properly functioning Office of Attorney General."
Sheridan emailed The Morning Call after the Reading Eagle first reported that the Senate was planning a special bipartisan committee that could recommend removing embattled Attorney General Kathleen Kane
