Christie: Black Lives Matter 'create' call to kill officers

WASHINGTON (AP) — Republican presidential candidate Chris Christie says the Black Lives Matter movement is creating an environment that can put police officers at risk. And he's accusing President Barack Obama of supporting the movement and encouraging "lawlessness" while not backing up law enforcement.

The New Jersey governor says on Sunday said, "I don't believe that movement should be justified when they are calling for the murder of police officers." Speaking on CBS' "Face the Nation," Christie said Black Lives Matter is "creating" an environment, as some of its supporters have chanted for the death of police.

The movement organized after the 2012 shooting of Trayvon Martin, an unarmed teen, by a neighborhood watch enthusiast.

Obama last week defended Black Lives Matter, urging the nation to take police treatment of black Americans seriously.

'Law enforcement' is systematically murdering unarmed black people. Whole segments of our population have ZERO confidence in either the police or our justice system. Instead of preaching this divisive crap, maybe you should be advocating some basic reforms. Change the culture from the top by getting new leadership in there. Take away the tanks and bazookas and rocket launchers and machine guns. Put a body cam on every officer.

Then, gosh, the cops will actually be serving and protecting the people instead of killing them.

The other thing for all people to note: Cops have never really been there to protect YOU. They are there to protect property.

should not be above the law. There have been too many brutal beatings, unnecessary tazings, and shootings by police in this country, often for a traffic stop or mistaken identity. Though it predominantly affects young black men, people of all ethnicities and all ages have been targeted. The idea of proportional response seems to be lost on today's law enforcement.

I am a member of the "law-abiding segment of our population" and I do NOT have full confidence in the police and justice system. Perhaps you are at the wrong forum?

TPTB only seem to want to prosecute the folks least likely to be able to defend themselves, not simply all criminals.
