Cruz has Perry-like moment when saying which agencies he'd eliminate

Source: USA Today

MILWAUKEE — Texas Sen. Ted Cruz had a moment that evoked memories of Rick Perry’s notorious “oops” gaffe four years earlier during Tuesday’s debate.

Cruz said he would cut $500 billion in federal spending by eliminating five departments: the IRS, Energy, Commerce, Housing and Urban Development and Commerce.

That’s right: two Commerce Departments.

During the 2012 GOP nomination race, Rick Perry said he would cut three departments, but could only remember two during a presidential debate. It was an actual “oops” moment that spelled the beginning of the end of Perry’s campaign.

So much pollution seeps in to our drinking water due to fracking that it affects people's ability to think rationally (note that I have been living in Germany for years now). It can't be a coincidence that two Texas Republicans in a row have made exactly the same stupid error in two consecutive election seasons.

If their goals are to eliminate pretty much every agency, what would they want to even be president ?
If they hate the government that much, they should not be campaigning to run it.

Perry's gaffe got so much attention -- you'd think any candidate proposing to eliminate departments would practice the sound bite incessantly, and maybe borrow a Sharpie from Sarah Palin to put a crib sheet on his palm.

I know it would probably only take a handful of people since they are going to make government SO SMALL. But somebody still has to collect all these new taxes from the poor people. The rich will of course pay their fair (and smaller share) without any help or enforcement from the government.

I'm reminded of a libertarian who said that the Federal Reserve should be abolished. To which I responded, "And be replaced by who?" It turned out that he did not know what a central bank does, and seemed to think that interest rates would set themselves, that commercial banks would be just fine in controlling the money supply and so on. I have believed for years that ignorance of history, economics and the real world in general is necessary for libertarians, and this man gave evidence of the correctness of this belief.

Seriously, if he's the tea party bad ass he thinks he is, the Department of Commerce would be the last department to get rid of. I wonder if he confused it with the Department of Labor.

The sane thing goes for getting rid of the Department of Energy. I would expect him to say he'd get rid of the EPA.

BTW

Dept of Commerce budget is $9Billion

Department of Energy - $30Billion

HUD - $32Billion

IRS - $11Billion

Add them all together (counting commerce twice - LOL) equals less than $100 Billion. GOP, the party for the math challenged.

New Testament too. Christ threw the money changers out of the Synagogue. Charismatics do not believe in the Second Coming of Christ so they go about setting up and recreating David's Kingdom, with themselves in charge. They believe that the Holy Spirit gives them the gift of Speaking in Tongues, which usually announces that a prophet will make a prophecy, like the one above removing parts of our government.

Side note: Carson seems to be having memories from his belief in Speaking in Tongues, and then prophesying from them.

IMO, we have dangers persons trying to convert the Constitutional United State into a Theocracy. Evangelicals believe that when Christ makes his second return, Christ will unite Faith and Law or as we call it, Church and State.

Hope I did not blow anyone away here. Sorry if this is offensive; Cruz and his other Dominionist pals in our government need to get over to Israel where they can practice digging up David's Kingdom under the Dome on the Rock, in Jerusalem.

48. WHY?
Fri Nov 13, 2015, 08:42 AM
Nov 2015

Even though the right wing media is still telling the people that America has the highest corporate rate in the world @ %35 to make them believe the claims that it is why they have moved our jobs off shore. The truth is that the average tax paid, after the many loopholes created for them , is %19. With many of our largest paying no tax at all. The effect of this is that they now only make up %7 of our budget instead of the %20 they paid during the many years of our countries growth and prosperity. Cut off the tax havens that let them keep trillions of dollars free of tax, and they won't have any excuse for continuing to cut benefits to the masses, or fail to fix the many problems with out infrastructure.
