Mother of 'affluenza' teen detained in Los Angeles after Mexico deportation

Tonya Couch held in custody until she can be taken to her home state of Texas next week to face charges of hindering apprehension of a felon

The mother of fugitive “affluenza teen” Ethan Couch will likely remain jailed for several days in Los Angeles after being deported from Mexico, investigators said on Thursday.

Tonya Couch and her 18-year-old son were taken into custody this week in Mexico, where authorities believe the pair fled in November as Texas prosecutors investigated whether he had violated his probation.

Ethan Couch was being held at a detention facility in Mexico City after winning a court reprieve that could lead to a weeks- or even months-long legal process in Mexico, a Mexican immigration official said on Thursday. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he or she was not authorized to be quoted by name.

But his mother was deported and flown to Los Angeles, where she was escorted through the airport in handcuffs by US marshals early on Thursday. She will remain jailed in Los Angeles until officers can take her to her home state of Texas.

with a bill to repay the State of Texas for her transport back to Texas.

I know someone whose son was arrested in Florida and transported back to New Hampshire on the actual Con Air. Amongst the many bills he owed once he finally was released on probation was the cost of transport from Florida to New Hampshire.

I just read it and all I have to say is that calling them "the worst parents ever" is even an understatement. I'd call them something like genetic donors or biological precursors, they are a couple of self-absorbed losers with tons of cash and no redeeming qualities, especially when it comes to that boy. The father's mantra of "we have the gold, we make the rules" should disqualify him from exposure to the rest of the human race.

Since it was established that SHE was the one who never taught him right from wrong. It's past time to split that duo up.

At least that is what we are hoping/banking/counting on.
Please, let there be some small degree of justice!

on being bought this time. Not that I'm saying the judge was bought in Ethan's first trial, but I can still smell the stink coming from that trial way up here in Northern New York to this day.

Both parents have been in trouble with the police themselves, and obviously only their money has saved them from serious consequences.

The apple didn't fall far from either tree.
