Sanders on Clinton: ‘Too late for establishment politics, economics’

MANCHESTER, N.H. With former President Bill Clinton about 25 miles away in Nashua stumping for his wife, U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders told high school and college students from three dozen states Monday that while he respects Hillary Clinton, it is time for the country to part ways with what he called establishment politics.
Ive known Hillary Clinton for 25 years, Sanders told about 500 students at the 2016 New Hampshire Primary Student Convention, hosted by New England College at the Radisson Hotel in downtown Manchester. He said he has an enormous amount of respect for her and considers her a friend.
But, responding to a question posed by a student, he said, When you look at the major issues facing our country today -- the issue of income and wealth inequality, the issue of a corrupt campaign finance system, the issue of climate change, the issue of Wall Street and the incredible power that Wall Street has over the economic and political life of this country, I think if you look at those issues, what you conclude is that at this moment in our history, it is too late for establishment politics and establishment economics.
What we need now is leadership thats going to stand up to the billionaire class, stand up to corporate America and Wall Street, and stand up to the (conservative billionaire) Koch brothers and the fossil fuel industry, stand up to the pharmaceutical industry and say, You guys cannot have it all, Sanders said.

(9,841 posts)Can anyone seriously say that about a Hillary presidency?

(57,936 posts)So why is it that, when it becomes clear that she, on her own, can't draw big crowds to her speeches, her charismatic husband steps forward and takes over?
Who are we being asked to vote for here?
A woman who is self-sufficient?
Or a woman who is actually just a front for her husband's unconstitutional third candidacy for the presidency.
That's the question that the right wing will ask.
We need to be able to look at things from different points of view.
Bill Clinton's campaigning was one of the things that caused Hillary's campaign to fail in 2008. What will it do now.
Isn't she a strong enough woman, a strong enough candidate to run (and ultimately govern) without her husband?
This is going to make her look weak. It's crazy to pull Bill out of her back pocket like this. I take it her internal polls show she is losing. That's what it meant last time in 2008 when Bill really got into the act.
Not a good sign. She should stand on her own. Bill should act like a candidate's wife, a candidate's spouse and not like a candidate himself.

(2,352 posts)if you can call serial betrayal a marriage.
Be hard to claim Bill has anything to do with Hillary's intentions.
you are 100% correct on her internal polling.
Keep in mind that all the polling we are being fed through the MSM also said Eric Cantor was a shoe in.
