Playoff Game Against Seahawks Officially The Coldest In Vikings History
Source: Associated Press
The Seattle Seahawks and Minnesota Vikings have kicked off their wild-card round game with an official temperature of minus-6 degrees.
That makes this tied for the third-coldest kickoff temperature in league history, according to NFL.com. The record, of course, is the famous Ice Bowl game on Dec. 31, 1967, in Green Bay between the Packers and the Dallas Cowboys for the NFL championship when it was minus-13 degrees.
This is the coldest game in Vikings history, even factoring in their 21 seasons outdoors at Metropolitan Stadium. The previous record was minus-2 degrees on Dec. 3, 1972, when the Vikings hosted the Chicago Bears with a wind chill factor of minus-19 degrees.
The wind chill at the start of the game on Sunday was registered at minus-25 degrees.

That and PZ Myers followers on.

People can be morons and do what is absolutely against their own self-interest. Those who will vote for Trump or anyone else still in the clown car are good examples.

Now it's on to the Super Bowl.

(50,533 posts)In the Pete Carroll era the Seahawks have played in your house three times...
10-26-14: 13-9 Seahawks
9-8-13: 12-7 Seahawks
10-7-12: 16-12 Seahawks
Our two losses in your house came LONG before Coach Carroll took over:
12-16-07: 13-10 Panthers
10-8-00: 26-3 Panthers
In the entire history of the Carolina Panthers they have played the Seahawks 10 times and lost 7 of them.
I think it'll be a game for the ages, and the Seahawks will win.

Philip Rivers 169 96 73 0 .568 55 29 0 41 44 0

Cam's W/L record at home is 25/16 and Rivers' W/L record away is 41/44.
So, advantage Cam. Besides, we're talking about these two teams at this point in time...and the Panthers
took it to the Seahawks in your house last October and won.
I do think it will be a good game, but I'm gonna' bet the Panthers come out ahead. They are going to be rested and ready.

(50,533 posts)Philip Rivers is the quarterback for the San Diego Chargers. Try this matchup:
Cam Newton 81 46 34 1 .574 25 16 0 21 18 1
Russell Wilson 73 53 20 0 .726 31 6 0 22 14 0
I wouldn't bet actual money on this game...it's probably the only true toss-up in this postseason.

(31,374 posts)That is really funny. You know what I did? It was really early this morning and instead of
looking up the damn QB name--to be sure it was right--I was thinking, oh, it was that guy
from NC State. Trouble is, they were both from NC State. Dumb, dumb, dumb.
Can I blame it on not having finished my first cup of coffee at 6 am?
On edit: here's what ESPN has to say comparing them

I gotta' say I am no fan of the Seahawks. I went to UCLA, so Pete Carroll will forever be tainted from having been the coach of the despicable Trojans.

(50,533 posts)In other words, great quarterback but he's too damn short.
Even better is Richard Sherman's:
What's REALLY going to be fun about this game: it's between the two most similar teams in the conference. They've both got good offenses, good defenses and rushing quarterbacks.

(31,374 posts)This morning I told my husband I thought there was a 50% chance that the Panthers would blow the Seahawks away because the Panthers are rested and ready
while the Seahawks have been playing, traveling back and forth through different time zones and haven't had a chance to get rested.
It's beginning to look like I should have put greater odds on the blow out since its now 24 to 0 after only one quarter and a few minutes of the 2nd.

(31,374 posts)Seriously, the team seemed totally befuddled the first half--as though they weren't awake yet--
I know the feeling when I haven't had my coffee.
I really would love to see the Panthers go all the way...but they need to show up for the 2nd half of games!

(50,533 posts)How he can guarantee that I don't know: there's a more-than-decent chance the road to the Super Bowl leads through Green Bay, where it is colder than a well digger's ass.
