Playoff Game Against Seahawks Officially The Coldest In Vikings History

Source: Associated Press

The Seattle Seahawks and Minnesota Vikings have kicked off their wild-card round game with an official temperature of minus-6 degrees.

That makes this tied for the third-coldest kickoff temperature in league history, according to NFL.com. The record, of course, is the famous Ice Bowl game on Dec. 31, 1967, in Green Bay between the Packers and the Dallas Cowboys for the NFL championship when it was minus-13 degrees.

This is the coldest game in Vikings history, even factoring in their 21 seasons outdoors at Metropolitan Stadium. The previous record was minus-2 degrees on Dec. 3, 1972, when the Vikings hosted the Chicago Bears with a wind chill factor of minus-19 degrees.

The wind chill at the start of the game on Sunday was registered at minus-25 degrees.

However, I suspect that Norwegian bachelor farmers were all at the game, along with their families and followers on.

That and PZ Myers followers on.

He said something like "There's always one guy. I wonder what the over/under is that he makes it to the hospital before the end of the game". People can be morons and do what is absolutely against their own self-interest. Those who will vote for Trump or anyone else still in the clown car are good examples.

In the Pete Carroll era the Seahawks have played in your house three times...
10-26-14: 13-9 Seahawks
9-8-13: 12-7 Seahawks
10-7-12: 16-12 Seahawks

Our two losses in your house came LONG before Coach Carroll took over:
12-16-07: 13-10 Panthers
10-8-00: 26-3 Panthers

In the entire history of the Carolina Panthers they have played the Seahawks 10 times and lost 7 of them.

I think it'll be a game for the ages, and the Seahawks will win.

Cam Newton 81 46 34 1 .574 25 16 0 21 18 1

Philip Rivers 169 96 73 0 .568 55 29 0 41 44 0

http://www.footballdb.com/stats/qb-records.html

Cam's W/L record at home is 25/16 and Rivers' W/L record away is 41/44.

So, advantage Cam. Besides, we're talking about these two teams at this point in time...and the Panthers
took it to the Seahawks in your house last October and won.

I do think it will be a good game, but I'm gonna' bet the Panthers come out ahead. They are going to be rested and ready.

Philip Rivers is the quarterback for the San Diego Chargers. Try this matchup:

Cam Newton 81 46 34 1 .574 25 16 0 21 18 1

Russell Wilson 73 53 20 0 .726 31 6 0 22 14 0

I wouldn't bet actual money on this game...it's probably the only true toss-up in this postseason.

That is really funny. You know what I did? It was really early this morning and instead of
looking up the damn QB name--to be sure it was right--I was thinking, oh, it was that guy
from NC State. Trouble is, they were both from NC State. Dumb, dumb, dumb.
Can I blame it on not having finished my first cup of coffee at 6 am?

On edit: here's what ESPN has to say comparing them

http://espn.go.com/blog/seattle-seahawks/post/_/id/17441/how-seahawks-russell-wilson-stacks-up-to-panthers-cam-newton

I gotta' say I am no fan of the Seahawks. I went to UCLA, so Pete Carroll will forever be tainted from having been the coach of the despicable Trojans.

25. Have you read Wilson's NFL Combine report?
Mon Jan 11, 2016, 06:38 PM

Wilson is this year's big-time question mark at quarterback. Unlike those who have held this title in the past, Wilson is a stellar passer who shows arm strength and accuracy when he is able to deliver the ball without a hitch. A transfer from North Carolina St. over the summer, he has outstanding football intelligence as he picked up the Wisconsin offense in a short time and was the opening-day starter. However, at his height teams will have concerns whether or not he can see to make the throws at the next level. He is a mechanical mover who has strong technique and leadership qualities. If Wilson were three inches taller there would be debate at the top of the draft as to where he fits in, but look for teams to take a flier on him in late rounds to see if he can develop and outplay his size.

In other words, great quarterback but he's too damn short.

Even better is Richard Sherman's:
Sherman is a size prospect with some good intangibles that will help him mold into a contributing backup corner for a press-heavy team. However, he does not possess the natural coverage instincts, fluidity or burst to be considered a future starter. Is comfortable and capable in press man, using his size to disrupt receivers' releases off the line, but doesn't show enough make up speed to consistently recover when beaten. Awareness in zone and off-man are only adequate. Has average ball skills but some upside as a playmaker. Tough against the run but still developing from a technical standpoint. Sherman is a Day 3 prospect.

What's REALLY going to be fun about this game: it's between the two most similar teams in the conference. They've both got good offenses, good defenses and rushing quarterbacks.

This morning I told my husband I thought there was a 50% chance that the Panthers would blow the Seahawks away because the Panthers are rested and ready
while the Seahawks have been playing, traveling back and forth through different time zones and haven't had a chance to get rested.

It's beginning to look like I should have put greater odds on the blow out since its now 24 to 0 after only one quarter and a few minutes of the 2nd.

Seriously, the team seemed totally befuddled the first half--as though they weren't awake yet--
I know the feeling when I haven't had my coffee.

I really would love to see the Panthers go all the way...but they need to show up for the 2nd half of games!

How he can guarantee that I don't know: there's a more-than-decent chance the road to the Super Bowl leads through Green Bay, where it is colder than a well digger's ass.
