Oregon rancher says he didn't let armed group remove fence
Updated 3:40 pm, Wednesday, January 13, 2016
BURNS, Ore. (AP) An Oregon rancher whose cattle graze next to the national wildlife refuge that an armed group is occupying says he didn't give them permission to enter his property and remove part of a fence.
The group protesting federal land policy tore down a stretch of government-erected fence Monday near the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge. The group says the goal was to give rancher Tim Puckett access to land that had been blocked for years.
But Puckett told The Oregonian (http://bit.ly/200Lqq0 ) on Tuesday that he wasn't aware of the group's plans and "they didn't have my permission to do anything."
Puckett says one of his representatives allowed the group onto the property but didn't let them remove the fence. He says he works with federal officials on land management and his employees have repaired the fence.

(789 posts)A helicopter --borrowed from the Nat'l Guard--should fly back and forth over the militia guys. Land a couple of times far enough away so one can't see what is going on. Then hover. A 'copter makes a whole lot of wind, blows a lot of snow and dust and weeds around. It is very unpleasant.
Militia types--ordinarily very courageous and god-fearing-- are very scared of helicopters--especially black ones. Their imaginations will run rampant.
Return at dusk. Repeat next day.
A second heli should go to the Bundy ranch in Nevada. Oh, Jesus... what is up? (Don't worry about the poor cellphone reception; news will spread via every jack rabbit from Oregon to Nevada.)

(70,449 posts)I'm the proud grandson of the late Bob W..... of Ashland, OR and he had an
orchard and had livestock too and I can not think of how mad he would be if
somebody cut his fence and let his stock get away so the coyotes and mt. lions
could get them.
The wildlife refuge is a little under 200,000 acres and the county is bigger then
the state of Vermont. The idea some rancher would have to leave his warm
home and go out and look for his cows in that wild land, in the snow, and risk
his life along w/his horse and helpers really pisses me off.
Time to quit f***ing around w/these shits.

(35,694 posts)So the Bundy Gang was talking smugly about how they were only trying to help out a local rancher and what a great day it was and all of that but the rancher did not actually want their help? And not only that, actually repaired the fence? Hmm. I sure want to hear how the Bundys explain this one.
