Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump Maintain National Leads: Poll

With the Iowa caucus less than a week away, Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump remain the strong front-runners of their respective parties nationally.
Trump maintains his lead with 39% support among Republican and Republican-leaning voters a full 20 points higher than any other Republican candidate.
On the Democratic side, Clinton is holding steady among Democratic and Democratic-leaning voters at 51% she maintains a 14-point lead over Sanders, who has 37% support nationally. .....................

(6,409 posts)It could come down to Clinton vs. Trump. It's difficult to imagine the GOP establishment would allow Trump to gain the nomination, but they're so disorganized right now, they my have no choice. It would be a close election, but Clinton would prevail.

(30,247 posts)I have no doubt that Hillary will be the Democratic nominee, I'm not so sure about Trump. Any of our candidates are fit to be president, not so much on the Republican side. People behind the scenes are despairing about finding a way to defeat him. They have said, that not only would Trump damage the party's brand, they think that he's not fit for the presidency. Which of course they are correct. The question is, who can defeat him? Cruz is despised by his own brethren because he's a nasty man. If the Senate has reached bipartisanship on one issue is over Cruz, they all dislike him.
This is an interesting election season.
