Evangelical leader Jerry Falwell Jr. endorses Trump

Source: Washington Post

Liberty University president Jerry Falwell Jr., the son of the late televangelist, endorsed Donald Trump on Tuesday, giving the Republican front-runner the blessing of one of the evangelical community’s biggest names just days before the Iowa caucuses.

In a statement, Falwell called Trump “a successful executive and entrepreneur, a wonderful father and a man who I believe can lead our country to greatness again.”

Falwell’s move has long been expected since he has showered praise on the billionaire in recent weeks and developed a rapport with him. But the timing of the formal announcement is significant, coming as Trump and Ted Cruz compete intensely in Iowa for the support of social conservatives.

“It is truly an honor to receive Jerry’s endorsement. Not only is he a high-quality person, with a wonderful family, whom I have great respect for — I also consider him a very good friend and his support means so much to me,” Trump said in a statement.

he has a double-digit lead over Trump with Evangelicals.

It is mind-boggling how anyone proclaiming to be a Christian can justify supporting Trump, however, That part just leaves me shaking my head.

however things turn out, one way or another, I bet if someone followed up on this we will find Jerry Falwell Jr.'s finances improve over the next few years.

Either that, or Jerry Falwell Jr. is motivated by his faith.

What a bold faced slap on the face of Jesus Himself. Jerry is basically saying he'd prefer the most unGodly candidate that cheats, lies, is a racist and bigot over the most openly Christian candidate, strictly because of popularity.
He endorses the twice divorced, for new trophy wives. And a father who would bed his own daughter if he could.

This is why I left the Christian fundie religion of my parents long ago. How easily they are led around by assholes like this. (Falwell and Trump), and can simply block out any inconvenient truth. The hypocrisy of claiming they strive to be not of the world, that the straight and narrow is better than the wider popular road. And then so easily drop all principles (without even allowing themselves to admit it) in order at a chance to be part of the popular crowd.

Right Jerry. And what about Matthew 5:28?

But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. (NIV)
