He reminded me a lot of my Grandma's brother. A bit taller but looked just like him.

(63,893 posts)couldn't stop myself...all my faves from I and II --- each movie had something to offer that I valued so much and still do. But one thing I had forgotten was how violent they were. Sonny's death on the turnpike was visually a shock to me after all these years.

(3,909 posts)There is just a little bit more of this scene in their review.
(Sorry to go on about it, but this is one of my favorite movies.)

(3,909 posts)The imagery is just breathtaking. I think my favorite scene in the whole movie is when he exits the Doctor's office, and is in front of that amazing brick façade and encounters the tiny woman with the Great Dane. Old Man River is playing in the background.
Stunningly beautiful.
Now I have to go watch it again.

(128,527 posts)What a great actor. And he made it to that ripe "young" age too! A shame a couple of us had just invoked his name (in character) just a couple weeks ago. I guess comparing the actor's look (in character) to Ryan, ended up being the last straw. Used to love watching him in Barney Miller.
R.I.P. (for real now) and thank you for your work!

"Luca Brasi sleeps with the fishes?"
I think it's Clemenza but it's hard for me to tell
ProfessorGAC
(64,877 posts)The line before that is "It's a sicilian message." Then, "It means Luca Brasi sleeps with the fishes." It's clearly done with the street accent used for the Clemenza character. The first line is much more obvious than the second. But, the voice doesn't change, so it's not Tessio.

What was the reason Brasi was killed?
ProfessorGAC
(64,877 posts)He was sent there to pretend he was interested in joining Barzini or Tataglia's family to poke around. They figured it out and strangled him.
