Sanders says Obama not trying to 'tip scales' for Clinton

Source: The Hill

Bernie Sanders said Wednesday he doesn’t believe President Obama is trying to tip the scales in favor of Hillary Clinton in the Democratic race for the White House.

Obama praised his former secretary of State this week in an interview with Politico, saying she would be more ready to be president on her first day in office than anyone who had not previously served as vice president.

Two days after the interview, Sanders was at the White House meeting with Obama.

“There was some discussion the other day about a Politico interview where he was tipping the scales towards Secretary Clinton. I don’t believe that at all,” the Vermont senator told reporters after a 45-minute Oval Office meeting.

The senator noted that Obama campaigned for him during his race for Senate in 2006.

Of course Obama is trying to endorse Clinton without actually endorsing her. How could he not?

So much so, that he's out to get himself.

That's the only explanation.

It is refreshing to see the candidate himself talk some of his more strident supporters off the ledge on this one.

Thank you, Bernie.

And from Olivier Knox via ssshh YAHOO.

Days before Iowa voters decide the first battle of the 2016 White House race, Senator Bernie Sanders emerged from a rare face-to-face meeting with Barack Obama on Wednesday denying that the president was trying to tip the Democratic primary scales in Hillary Clinton’s favor.

Quotes from Bernie---

“What the president has tried to do, what Vice President Biden has tried to do, is to be as evenhanded as they could be,” he insisted. “And I know there was some discussion the other day about a Politico interview in which he was tipping the scale towards Secretary Clinton — I don’t believe that at all.

“I think he and the vice president have tried to be fair and evenhanded in the process, and I expect they will continue to be,” he said.

Well, Bernie is a bigger man than I am.

If the President has a mind to do that, then he might like to know how all the leading candidates feel about it.
