Bill Yost, Ira Township assistant fire chief, said the first call about a vehicle that had broken though the ice was at 3:18 p.m. More calls came in rapid succession.

Ah yes, every Detroiter and Michigander awaits this every year, as the doofuses strike yet again. Any bets against them being Trump or Cruz voters? Didn't think so.

(73,630 posts)The winter hasn't been close enough at all for this sort of nonsense. Hell, it was 43 degrees out there today. We've only had one decent snowfall all winter and that was completely melted in less than a week.
I live a stone's throw from the lake and I wouldn't go out there at all.

(5,751 posts)I won't even walk on a lake in these wild up and down temps, let alone drive a automobile out on it! These people are too dumb to fish (or whatever the hell they thought they were doing out there).

(32,632 posts)they only drove a little way off the beach and were just extending the parking lot. I don't think any of the cars or trucks sunk or anything like that. Just up to the top of the their wheels. The fish were bitting.

(34,195 posts)When I lived in Maine there were news stories of people driving on frozen lakes. They thought it fun to skid around. Each year a few would crash through the ice and die.
One coworker of mine often drove on the frozen lakes, taking her young children with her.
I asked if she didnt worry about the ice breaking under her car, and she said no.
Said she always walked out first to make sure the ice was solid.
She weighed about 150 pounds. Felt solid enough for her, so a car load of folks should be OK.

They get really mad about the environmental damage
