CBS Chief Les Moonves Says Trump's 'Damn Good' For Business

Source: Huff Post

"Sorry. It's a terrible thing to say. But, bring it on, Donald. Keep going."

Nick Visser
Reporter, The Huffington Post

There's a reason why Donald Trump gets more minutes during almost every debate or can seemingly call into "The Late Show" or "The View" whenever he has a racist remark and expect the media to do whatever he likes. According to the head of CBS, the foul-mouthed presidential candidate is "damn good" for the network and the "money's rolling in" thanks to his antics.

Les Moonves, executive chairman and CEO of CBS, made the comments during a speech at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media and Telecom Conference in San Francisco, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"I've never seen anything like this, and this going to be a very good year for us," he said at the event. "Sorry. It's a terrible thing to say. But, bring it on, Donald. Keep going."

The outlet notes Moonves said ad sales this season have been particularly strong, partly due to an election cycle rapt with attacks and "bomb throwing" that keeps Americans interested.

Proof positive of what we all have been thinking. So the head of a major network admits the truth. Good for business, so if the country gets hurt, (.my words..not his.) - tough shit!

At least he's not lying and pretending that the Trump coverage is about the "news." I have to give him credit for saying that it is all about the ratings. When you compare the ratings for a reality show trainwreck like Trump with watching important Congressional hearings on CSPAN, it is clear what the American public prefers. If Trump picks Kim Kardashian for a running mate we're toast.....

2. Someone should remind them what happened last time a candidate was good for business

And then became President.

The media and comedians all loved Junior, he was funny and good business, "their business."

Then we all lived through their lies and wars and more.

I just can't imagine what a T-rump presidency would do to this country, it's terrifying. Yet I keep hearing that repubs have had high voter turnout and that Democratic turnout is low this year. After all the nastiness of the primaries are over we need to get off our collective asses and ensure that we keep repubs out of the White House and reduce their numbers in Congress.

4. I believe they want Trump to run against Clinton

The networks are going to milk this for all it's worth; it's not like they aren't showing his awful behavior and out-of-control antics. This is what is making them money, but it will surely help Clinton win in the general election.

This is exciting for them. They can run program after program on Hillary's scandals, real and imagined, and it is virtually impossible to keep your eyes off Trump, either because you are so shocked and appalled that this is even happening or you love what he is saying. Imagine the absolute boredom of Bernie Sanders-John Kasich campaign. You'd have Bernie talking about policy instead of tossing juvenile insults and Kasich calmly and maturely underselling exactly how conservative he is. Not gonna sell a lot of ads for those debates.

Mitt led in all the polls

Everything was moving in his direction

State by state he was advancing

Battleground states he was edging ahead

This time they have a true media bloodhound

feeding his narcissism

7. That's the fallacy of the MSM news in a nutshell.
Tue Mar 1, 2016, 09:53 AM

Instead of informing and reporting on real news, the MSM gerbils sit back and look for sex, foul language or some other crap and pass it on as "news." And they're more worried about making beaucoup bucks and profits than performing their duty of informing.

That's why I haven't taken the major networks seriously as a credible source of news for over 20 years. And it's filtered down to the local level. Local newscasts these days consist of live reports from some warm & fuzzy event, restaurant reports and how unsanitary they all are, sprinkled in with weather and traffic every 5 minutes. It's just junk.

Murrow, Cronkite, Schorr, Kalb, Rather, Sevareid, Rather, and Mike Wallace
were just some of the real journalists who worked at CBS and now you have
Moonves all but saying, "hey it is all about the $$$."

BTW in 2004 Moonves went out of his way to help Karl Rove and W bush by
not standing up for Dan Rather ands the truth about W going AWOL.
