Newspaper that endorsed Christie: 'Boy, were we wrong'
Source: Politico
The New Hampshire Union Leader backed the wrong presidential candidate, the paper said in an editorial posted online Monday evening.
The influential newspaper endorsed New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie last November, but his endorsement of Donald Trump is apparently a bridge too far.
Despite his baggage, we thought that as a Republican governor in a Democratic-leading state he had the skills and experience the presidency needs (and hasnt had of late), publisher Joseph McQuaid wrote. We also thought he had the best chance to take on and face down Donald Trump.
Boy, were we wrong, McQuaid added.

The Onion Leader is always wrong. But this may be the first time they've ever admitted it. They have been puking out and parroting the Republican BS party line for ever and ever.

(12,754 posts)The Union-Misleader ran a front page editorial that said "ML King Stay Out of Our Town."
That's the caliber of "journalism" you're dealing with.
I had a friend who, desperate for work, took a job with them. He later quit. I asked him why and he said, "Because I realized that I had to shave and I had to look at myself in the mirror every day."

Thankfully the availability of news via the internet has curbed the influence of typically conservative newspapers.

(3,457 posts)...Take Bridgegate. The editorial made no mention of it. "It has nothing to do with the governor," Bosse says.
It's possible Christie didn't know about the lane closures or the cover-up. But this is a governor whose cabinet members don't go to the bathroom without his permission. At a minimum, these were his senior appointees.
How about pension reform? The board in Manchester did not know that Christie broke his core promise on that by skipping pension payments. "I don't know if we went into the weeds on pension reform," Bosse said.
The editorial said he "dealt admirably" with Sandy. That would come as a shock to the actual victims, 60 percent of whom say they are dissatisfied with the state's response.

Corrections and clarifications: This post has been updated to correct the number of newspapers joining in the editorial.
Six New Jersey newspapers issued a joint editorial Tuesday calling on Gov. Chris Christie to resign in the wake of his failed presidential campaign and his subsequent endorsement of rival Donald Trump.
The six newspapers including the Asbury Park Press, the Cherry Hill Courier-Post and the Morristown Daily Record all Gannett-owned papers that are part of the USA TODAY NETWORK were apparently spurred to editorial outrage by a Monday press conference in which Christie refused to answer questions about anything other than his nomination of a state Supreme Court judge. Asked why, Christie replied, "Because I don't want to."
"Were fed up with Gov. Chris Christies arrogance," the papers wrote. "Were fed up with his opportunism. Were fed up with his hypocrisy."
The joint editorial notes that Christie spent part of 261 days out of state last year and traveled out of state to endorse Trump and campaign with him after he quit the race Feb. 10.
