Clinton apologizes for calling Nancy Reagan a 'very effective, low-key' AIDS advocate

Source: CNN.com

St. Louis (CNN)Hillary Clinton apologized on Friday for calling the late Nancy Reagan a "very effective, low-key" advocate on AIDS/HIV, saying she "misspoke" in an interview with MSNBC.

Clinton said the former first lady, who died on Sunday, "started a national conversation" on AIDS that "penetrated the public conscience and people began to say, 'Hey, we have to do something about this, too,'" during an interview with the network at Reagan's funeral.

But there's no,way since Alzheimer's has never been stigmatized.

She's lying again!!!

“It may be hard for your viewers to remember how difficult it was for people to talk about HIV/AIDS back in the 1980s,” Mrs. Clinton, who was attending Mrs. Reagan’s funeral in Simi Valley, Calif., told MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell. “And because of both President and Mrs. Reagan – in particular, Mrs. Reagan – we started a national conversation, when before nobody would talk about it.

If thousands of us yelling at Reagan to DO SOMETHING about the dying men and the disease, then there WAS " a national conversation"
albeit in strenuously loud and frustrated tones.

Clinton needs to set aside an Apology Day, one day a week where she can do a mea culpa for all her "mis-spokes" .

And when you can't explain, you get smug and aloof.

She is Republican Lite.

Her apology is unaccepted because she said it. On the Record. . .she owns it now. All the backpeddling and walking back does nothing.

And any LGBT person who now supports her might as well run the knife over their wrists since she has thrown you all under teh bus to pander to the Republican mouth breathers by praise the Spawn of Hell spouse of the Sith Lord himself.

Mispeaks, misvotes, missupports, misrepresents, etc to the point that you have to ask if she is tone-deaf, bumbling, manipulative, rudderless, pandering or some combination of all theses things.

If it was a time or two thing, fine, but it isn't. It's a pattern.

If she wins the nomination, I'll vote for her, In that case, I hope to vote for her primary challenger in 2020.

Fri Mar 11, 2016, 09:45 PM
Mar 2016

The first, but certainly not the last, of my friends who would die of it. I well remember the 80's, the Reagans, and HIV/AIDS. Because I was aware early enough to know what it was called first, GRID and "gay" cancer. Which only added another layer to the bigotry and the lack of response. It was only gay people dying, you know <insert any number of hateful jokes being told at the time, and still are>.

It wasn't difficult to talk about. Because we were talking about it and talking loudly. It was difficult to get anyone to listen. Because those with the power to help didn't care. Huge difference. Major difference. A critical, life-saving difference.

No, it isn't "hard to remember" how the Reagan Administration (to include his wife) behaved during that time - It's impossible to forget.

"The other point to make, too, is it may be hard for your viewers to remember how difficult it was for people to talk about HIV/AIDS back in the 1980s," Clinton said. "And because of both President and Mrs. Reagan, in particular Mrs. Reagan, we started a national conversation, when before nobody would talk about it."

Clinton added: "Nobody wanted to do anything about it. And, you know, that too is something that I really appreciate with her very effective low-key advocacy, but it penetrated the public conscience and people began to say, hey, we have to do something about this, too."

I'll be polite in comment.

What utterly contemptible bullshit.

Early in Reagan's first term the UN recommended $2 billion funding to address the HIV/AIDS virus. After Reagans two terms less than $20 million had been invested. During Clinton's two terms HIV/AIDS was the number one cause of death for 25 to 49 year old adults.

It is interesting that one who claims she has committed a life to healthcare issues, is so ignorant on this issue that has caused 39 million deaths.
