Mitt Romney: Obama Slowed the Recovery On Purpose

Source: Talking Points Memo

4:42 pm Eastern Time

At a campaign appearance in San Antonio, TX Wednesday, Mitt Romney accused President Obama of slowing down the economic recovery on purpose in order to get his health care plan passed.

The transcript:

“A book that was written in a way thats apparently pro-President Obama, was written by a guy named Noam Scheiber and in this book he says that there was a discussion about the fact that Obamacare would slow down the economic recovery in this country and they knew that before they passed it. But they concluded that we would all forget how long the recovery took once it had happened, so they decided to go ahead. The idea that they knowingly slowed down our recovery in order to put in place Obamacare, which they wanted and they considered historic but the American people did not want or consider historic, is something which I think deserves a lot of explaining, because I think the President’s responsibility is to put people back to work. To get people out of poverty and to help people have good jobs and have prospects for a brighter tomorrow.”

Find your weak points and advertise repeatedly that you are better than the competition in every one of them.

If you hear only ads expressing how great customer service is, prepare for the ultimate runaround when you call them with an issue.

The "Jackass Association of America" will be contacting you on your post...
We are stunned that you would compare our favorite kind, hardworking, truthful, friends..the Jackasses....

with a "lying thieving son of a B****" as you say.
Jackasses around the world have been injured by your careless use of the word.
You will be hearing from our lawyer...

oh, by the way...I just made that up...just like Romney...

don't they? Seems that they know when they are going to be exposed for their crap and they always get to call the kettle black first.

You can be damned sure that if they are accusing the dems of doing it, it is because the republicans are acually doing it and looking to be able to say the ol "both sides do it" if anything comes of it.

and stay home. Either that, or if they see no difference between Obama and Mitt Romney and are angry that the economy hasn't turn around quickly enough, perhaps--just perhaps--they'll take a chance with Romney!!!!

I blame the treasonous media most for outright lying to the people. they can't make good decisions when all the info they get is false.

oh and let's not forget my favorite uninformed citizen expression of "it's always been that way."

it apparrently gives them an excuse to not do a damned thing.

Single Payer would have sped up the recovery by removing the health insurance "burden" from business and reduced stress from workers about "what if I lose my job because I get sick" etc., this would have incresed productivity (AGAIN)

The other big truth that he doesn't seem to get is that the reason we can't get single payer is because of Republicans!

What a fool!

Something is missing. How has the Affordable Care Act caused the economy to be slowed down and where is the evidence to back up this charge. That seems like the minimum expectation in order for a charge to even be published. Instead, all I see is an unsubstantiated, wild charge that somehow passes the truth test. Well, no it doesn't.

So which is it, Mitt, (and you better be damn careful how you answer, cause the 'Baggers are watching you, and you wouldn't want those people accusing you of Marxism).

We all knew the repukes were going to come up with some despicable lie which would be repeated time after time, hoping that Democrats and the President would ignore it just enough that it would gain traction. I think they may have just rolled out their Swift Boat version 2012.

but this time involving the economy. They did it in 1968 when the Nixon campaign secretly contacted the South Vietnamese government before the U.S. election to try to get them to refuse to attend the Paris peace talks until after the election to damage the Dem candidate. We found out about that last year with the release of new tapes and the refusal of Lyndon Johnson to go public with it to keep from forever damaging the office of the President. The Reagan Administration quite possibly tried to get the Iranians to hold onto the U.S. hostages until after the election, to ruin Carter's chances. This was sworn to by Yassir Arafat before he died and he was to be involved in the arms for hostages deal with Reagan and Iran.

It wouldn't surprise me if Romney and Rove were in contact with a number of U.S. businesses, making all kinds of post election promises regarding taxes, regulations, oil leases on federal lands and the like if only they will hold off on new hiring and investments.

If anyone is trying to hurt the economy it's the Reshits. But then they always accuse others of the very same things they themselves do.

So of course they are claiming that Obama slowed down the economy.
