Kerry: ISIS Is Committing Genocide Against Yazidis, Christians and Shiite Muslims

Secretary of State John Kerry said Thursday that ISIS has been committing genocide against religious minorities in the Middle East — just the second time the executive branch has used the term in relation to an ongoing conflict.

The formal designation comes days after the House passed a nonbinding resolution by a 393-0 vote condemning ISIS atrocities as genocide.

"Daesh is genocidal by self proclamation, by ideology and by actions," Kerry said in a televised address, using another name for the Sunni militant group. "We must recognize what Daesh is doing to its victims."

"Naming these crimes is important but what is essential is to stop them," he added.

So if all this is true, why are we wasting our efforts fighting Assad's troops? Why fight the enemy of ISIS? Perhaps we could join forces and take ISIS out of the equation? Oh yeah - it's Real Politic! How much time, effort, and energy have we spent (and $$$) wasting our time on Assad when could have been focused 100% on ISIS? Everything we have done in the middle east has been ill-sighted, reactionary and incompetent. WTF did the people of Iraq or Syria or Yemen ever do to the people of the USA???

5. On one side there appears to be ISIS,

Israel, Saudi Arabia, the other Gulf States, Turkey, Jordan and the US. On the other is Iran, Russia, Syria, most of Iraq and what's left of Lebanon. It is certainly important to "stop them." The question is who 'them' is today.
