Lawsuit claiming to be from alleged Uber gunman was a hoax, sheriff says

Source: Washington Post

A lawsuit claiming to be from the Uber driver accused of shooting six people in Kalamazoo, Mich., was a hoax, according to local authorities.

The handwritten complaint, filed in federal court this week, alleged that it was from Jason Dalton, who has been charged with killing six people and wounding two others in a shooting rampage last month. In the complaint, the person claiming to be Dalton said he blamed Uber for his incarceration and outlined a litany of other complaints against the company before asking for $10 million.

However, the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office said it concluded Thursday that the lawsuit was a fake.

“We were suspicious last night when we saw the news,” Under sheriff Paul G. Matyas said in a telephone interview. “Then we were able to confirm that’s what it was this morning.”

It seemed a little suspicious. Somehow, I think he lost the capacity to care for/about others.
