Certain tuna products recalled in Georgia
Source: The Augusta Chronicle
Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Gary W. Black is alerting Georgians to the recall of certain Bumble Bee and Chicken of the Sea canned Chunk Light tuna products.
The products may pose a health risk to consumers, according to a news release. Georgia Department of Agriculture (GDA) inspectors are actively checking retail stores and distribution warehouses to make sure the recalled products have been removed.
The recall is due to process deviations that occurred as part of the commercial sterilization process of the tuna products, which could result in contamination by spoilage organisms or pathogens. To date, there have been no reports of illness associated with these products; however, the potential for contamination could lead to life-threatening illness if the products are consumed.
The products were distributed nationally.
