Threatening letter sent to Donald Trump's son, Eric

Source: CBS News

NEW YORK -- The Secret Service, FBI and New York Police Department are investigating what sources tell CBS News is a threatening piece of mail sent to Donald Trump's son, Eric Trump.

The mail, sent to Eric Trump at his posh Manhattan residence at 100 Central Park South, also known as Trump Parc East, was opened by his wife Thursday.

A source close to the investigation said the letter had a Massachusetts postmark and warned that if Donald Trump doesn't withdraw from the race for the Republican presidential nomination -- paraphrasing -- harm will come to the kids.

A source familiar with the matter said the envelope contained suspicious white powder that's been sent to a lab for testing. The source said a preliminary field test indicated the substance didn't appear to be hazardous.

In the early 2000's, it was used to silence war-dissenting Democrats in Congress.

damage they need to include a pink or purple powder. Some gears in the heads would be spinning for a bit trying to figure out the message.

No one deserves that kind of thing

It's a hate crime

Might also have originated from a supporter trying to stoke
sympathy of sorts

I can't imagine the mindset of a person like that. "Wow, what a beautiful animal. Let's kill it!" But then, they don't even own up to their actions. They don't "kill" the animals, they "take" them. They don't cut the head off and leave the carcass to rot. They "take the trophy". Evil motherfuckers.

Every time I see a Trump son standing behind the father my mind overlays an image I cannot shake--the two sons grinning and holding the tail of an elephant they lopped off as a prize after training their scopes on the majestic, threatened creature and shooting it down in the coldest of cold blood.

The reason we don't ramp up the violence rhetoric in politics is because the range of humanity in a democracy includes the mentally unstable. Trump needs to be put down by a healthy public vote and the nation needs to heal.

Regardless, expect this to become a major turning point in utilizing this event as a strategy during the campaign...

Might be the same person like a Cruz supporter, or the news report gave them the idea. I find it more curious that it's being reported than that it happened.

I'm guessing it was someone vying for attention, whether a Trump supporter or not. No doubt an idiot no matter how you slice it, and definitely no room in the race for this sort of thing. It only encourages copycat acts which may get worse.

Not cool
