Obama to nominate U.S.’s first female combatant commander

WASHINGTON President Barack Obama has decided to nominate the U.S. militarys first female combatant commander, Secretary of Defense Ash Carter said Friday.
Obama recently approved the nomination of Air Force Gen. Lori Robinson to head U.S. Northern Command, Carter said at a breakfast hosted by Politico in Washington. She is currently the commander of U.S. Pacific Air Forces.
Robinson, who entered the Air Force in 1982, has very deep operational experience and very good managerial experience. Carter said.
Gen. Robinson, just so happens, would also be the first ever female combatant commander, the military officials who head deployments of U.S. forces in various parts of the world.
