.................
...........The poll found Mrs. Clinton, a former secretary of state, U.S. senator and first lady, had the support of more than half of Democrats (53 percent) with almost three in 10 voters (28 percent) backing Vermont U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders.
The Pennsylvania primary is April 26.
Mrs. Clinton also led both Mr. Trump (46 to 33 percent) and Mr. Cruz (45 to 35 percent) in theoretical head-to-head general election matchups..................
.................
G. Terry Madonna, Ph.D., the poll director, said none of the results in the presidential races should come as a surprise. Mrs. Clinton, with her ties to Scranton and past campaigns here by her and her husband, President Bill Clinton, is well-known in Pennsylvania, he said.
Its going to be hugely difficult if not virtually impossible ... for Sanders to catch her in this state, Dr. Madonna said. This is a quintessential Clinton state.
Mrs. Clinton dominates the polling everywhere but the northwest, where she only leads to Mr. Sanders by 3 percentage points (46 percent to 43 percent). Her largest advantages are in Philadelphia (63 percent to 25 percent), home of the largest bloc of African-American voters, and the northeast (55 percent to 19 percent)..............

(5,082 posts)People have no idea what they are getting into allowing Bill-o back in the White House. Expect more gridlock and investigations. Sanders is clean as a whistle. Have we become a party of fools? I predict the extinction of the two party system soon with only ourselves to blame.

(53,342 posts)I just don't get how people back her so much. She's a compulsive liar, was AGAINST same-sex marriage until VERY recently, was FOR TPP until VERY recently (and even that turnaround seems iffy), she WON'T release Goldman-Sachs speech transcripts, she voted FOR the Iraq War at every opportunity and called it a "gift" to the middle east (yeah, the gift that keeps giving in the form of Al Qaeda and ISIS)

people don't find themselves attracted to.
But I do. Sanders is the candidate with the
only decently human message.

(127,297 posts)Clinton won PA in the 2008 primary against Obama (despite the larger black turnout from Philly, where primaries here are often (sadly) snoozefests).
The bigger issue I have is with Sestak. I got a call a couple months ago from one of his canvassers and told her, in no uncertain terms, that Sestak needs to get his butt into Philly and on the air. We ran into that in 2010, where despite coming from a suburban Philly county, he basically ignored the city and thus Teabagger Toomey got in.

(30,244 posts)I expect the same with Sanders, both areas have a lot of college students. Hillary will do well in the rest of the state, as she did in 2008.

(127,297 posts)I think she will do well in Philly this go-around - notably because of her time in the current administration as a solid SOS (and she put on some major travel miles... don't know how she did it )! But turnout may be way down from the last 2 Presidential primaries. It should pick up during the GE though, given what is at stake.

(30,244 posts)I have no doubt that Hillary will do quite well in PA, NJ and NY. Also in MD. This is my part of the country and I worked those states in past elections. I have no doubt that she will easily win the first three and I think that she will win MD too.

Here's a pic of little Hillary with her Rodham grandparents in Scranton.
This is a story about the lace company in Scranton where Hillary's grandfather worked for most of his life. It closed in 2002. Notice her campaign ad from 2008 about Scranton.
