We've got to do something to keep firearms under better control, I believe. We must. There are too many angry people with access to them, and incidents like this are the result.

Boelter is the oldest eng. building.

Went to UCLA for years (uh ... grad school), but more mid-campus. Kinsey Hall, Campbell Hall.

UCLA sent an alert to all students advising them to stay away. The diligent students will do as my son did, and let home know everything's cool.

She is nowhere near the Engineering Bldgs, but up at her Res Hall. She's locked down on the 8th floor, and so is safe. I spent years in the Army, but it is harder when it is your child.

This sucks.

When 9/11 happened, there were people I know in the buildings there. Fortunately, all of them survived, but the worry was enormous.

Not necessarily the shooter.

Appears to be a student. Black shirt & shorts. A student showed a reporter video of the arrestee being led off by several officers. There is a rough match of the description tweeted by Daily Bruin of the shooter.

I say that because the sound on the cell phone may tip off your location to the shooter.

If you are hiding from the attacker, you should have your phone silenced since you have no control over any incoming calls/texts.
